After two last ball thrillers yesterday, BPL 2025-26 has given us an absolute one-sided contest! The Chattogram Royals completely dominated the contest from ball one and not for once did they let the Dhaka Capitals get a look in. The Bangladeshi carnival continues as we move to the second match of the day between Sylhet Titans and Rangpur Riders. Do switch tabs to catch updates on that.
On this note, I, Manan Mehta would like to take your leave on behalf of my colleagues Karthik Raj and Ghanendra Singh Thakur. See yaa folks!
Mahedi Hasan (Chattogram Royals Captain):"Actually, winning the toss was good. If you win the toss and bowl, you can get a tricky wicket. The bowlers did a great job. First match, we were a bit short with our overseas but now we are fully strong. I am very confident with our bowling attack. Me and Tanvir, we are the country's best spinners at the moment. Shoriful is very dangerous with the new ball, Mugdho and Aamir Jamal were also good. Adam Rossington was like MS (Like Dhoni's keeping)."
Adam Rossington (Chattogram Royals): "Very pleased. I think the victory was set up by the bowlers. It was a very good wicket, so our bowlers did a great job to keep them down to just 122.
Yeah, I am very happy to know that I was the first one to get 4 stumpings in a BBL game. I have loved my wicketkeeping over the last few months and happy to contribute with the gloves. The best for me was the one I did down the leg side. You often lose sight of the ball in those ones.
Yeah, the team is shaping up really well. The bowlers are contributing, and the batters are doing their bit pretty well. Yeah, when we were bowling the pacers were finding some nip and the spinners had their balls getting some good grip. When we came to bat, the wicket just got better, and the ball was coming on. So, we got the best of the conditions in our favor."
Player of the Match: Adam Rossington (60* off 36 balls, 4 Stumpings)
Time for the Post-match Presentations...
Mohammad Mithun (Dhaka Capitals Captain):"We had a bad day today. The toss played a big role. In the first innings, the spinners were getting a lot of help. In the second innings, ball was coming on nicely. As a batting unit, we are not using the Powerplay well and losing a lot of wickets. In the first half, the ball was gripping and it changed in the second half. We also thought that the wicket will behave better. But as usual, as first 10-12 overs, the bowlers had help."

4:34 PM IST and 5:04 PM Local Time: Phew! That was some carnage from the Chattogram Royals. They have blown away the Dhaka Capitals with both bat and ball. Supremacy was defined and they are the deserved winners.
They won the toss and put the Capitals into bat. Shoriful Islam started in fine fashion as he knocked over both the openers in the powerplay. Both Saif Hassan and Zubaid Akbari fell to ugly slogs. Usman Khan led a counterattack with the bat as he brought the score to 39/2 in 6 overs. However, once he was dismissed in the very next over, all hell broke loose for the Capitals.
They lost the next 5 wickets to the Royals' spinners, Tanvir Islam and Mahedi Hasan. From 39/2 they slipped to 66/7. Out of the 5 wickets to fall in that period, there were four stumpings. Adam Rossington was fast as flash behind the stumps. There was some resistance for the 8th wicket. Nasir Hossain and Mohammad Saifuddin stitched a 48 runs partnership.
However, once that wicket was achieved by the Royals, the tail was skittled out rather easily. The Dhaka Capitals ended with an underwhelming 122 All Out! The pick of the bowlers for the Royals were Tanvir Islam (3-8) and Shoriful Islam (3-18).
In reply to the 122 posted, the Chattogram Royals' openers started off cautiously. They were 17/0 after 3 overs. However, once they got the measure of the surface, they went all guns blazing. Took on the pacers as well as spinners. Apart from one chance given by Adam Rossington and shelled by Imad Wasim, the openers played risk free attacking cricket. Both batters got to their fifties.
They hunted down the target in just 12.4 overs with all 10 wickets intact. Adam Rossington (60* off 36) and Mohammad Naim (54* off 40 balls) were sublime in their batting. The Royals have decimated the Capitals and there is a lot to think about for the latter whose batting has failed twice in two days!
