Till then, this is Arjun Bhalla signing off on behalf of Dev Rajawat and Zeeshan Naiyer.
Najmul Hossain Shanto (Rajshahi Warriors Captain): "Iām really happy, especially with our bowling performance. Binura bowled really well, and Talat supported me brilliantly, particularly considering the dew factor. Overall, Iām very pleased with the way the bowlers executed their plans.
Winning always lifts the atmosphere in the team. It boosts confidence, which is very important in a tournament like this. Weāre happy to win todayās match, but itās a long tournament, and we need to keep this momentum going.
In terms of improvement, I think we need better partnerships at the top of the order. That said, in tournaments like this, some batters will fail on certain days.
Personally, I felt good while batting, but once I got set, I thought I needed to carry on and finish the innings. If I get the opportunity again, that will be my aim.
As for Ripon Mondol, he was outstanding. This was his first game, and returning with figures of 4 for 13 is special. If you look at his performances in the Emerging Under-23 tournament, heās been one of the standout bowlers. We always believed in his ability. It was unfortunate he didnāt get a chance in the first two matches, but today he showed his quality, and Iām really happy for him.
Well played to the team, and hopefully, we continue this form going forward."
Ripon Mondol (POTM): "Thanks to the Almighty. It was important for me to start off well. My plan was very simple: the captain asked me to bowl at hard lengths, and I did that.
Getting wickets is always important. I enjoy bowling with both new and old balls.
Mushi (Mushfiqur Rahim) Bhai and (Najmul Hasan) Shanto Bhai helped me. This award is special, I want to dedicate it to my wife."
Player of the Match: Ripon Mondol
Haider Ali (Noakhali Express Captain): "We did try, but things didnāt work out completely, and yes, thatās part of the game.
I think our bowlers put in a really good effort because defending 125 runs on a pitch like this is quite difficult. Still, I feel the bowlers tried their best and gave a good effort.
The issue is that when set batters get out, pressure builds immediately. With the kind of pitches weāre playing on, if a batter gets set, he needs to bat long and take the innings deep, ideally playing all 20 overs.
If we can score 150-plus, it gives the bowlers much more support. Right now, I feel the bowlers arenāt getting that support.
Our focus for the upcoming matches is to build partnerships and avoid losing back-to-back wickets. Thatās very important. We need to improve in that area because we still havenāt got a win yet.
To win matches, the main thing is to make sure the batters understand not to give away wickets in quick succession. They need to build partnerships and take responsibility.
Weāll try our best in the next games. All the best, and weāll keep trying today as well."
9:11 PM IST, 9:41 PM Local Time: THREE DEFEATS IN THREE GAMES. The Noakhali Express have lost another game in this Bangladesh Premier League. Despite giving it all - blood, sweat and determination, the bowlers failed to defend 124/8. The Rajshahi Warriors have got back to winning ways as they went over the line by six wickets (with 13 balls to spare).
Chasing 125 runs for a line-up like Rajshahi should never have been a problem. The partnership between Najmul Hasan Shanto and Tanzid Hasan almost ensured it. However, the Express came back into the game with three scalps in quick succession. The Warriors could have crumbled there, but Mushfiqur Rahim and Yasir Ali dropped their anchors to take them home.
The Warriors lost an early wicket in the form of Sahibzada Farhan on the second ball of the chase. However, Shanto and Tanzid Hasan didn't let the Noakhali settle in. They shared a quickfire stand of 65 runs for the second wicket. But then came a storm.
Rejaur Rahman Raja removed Shanto on 24, then Zahir Khan had Tanzid in the following over and Mahmud got Hussain Talat in the very next over.
As it looked things might get dirty for the Warriors, by Rahim and Yasir Ali played like senior statesmen. They shared an unbeaten partnership of 52 runs off 54 balls, ensuring they get over the line.
