Match number four in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL 2025-26) will set the stage on fire as Sylhet Titans will be at loggerheads with Noakhali Express at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, Sylhet, in the evening game on Saturday (December 27).
Both teams kicked off the campaigns on the inaugural day and lost their opening fixtures. However, now, they have a chance to redeem themselves and put points on the table.
Playing their first game ever in the BPL, Noakhali Express were steamrolled by Chattogram Royals, to say the least. Bowling first, Hasan Mahmud (1/25) and Mahedi Hasan (1/29) bowled well, but a calculative approach from Mirza Baig (80 off 69) took the Royals to a respective 174/6.
The conditions became batting-friendly in the second half, but Noakhali Express paid the price of fielding one less batter. Habibur Rahman (15 off 7) started off with a positive intent, but was sent packing in the third over itself. Maaz Sadaqat (32) and Haider Ali (28) tried reviving the innings after losing four wickets early, but they too failed. Eventually, they were bowled out for 109/10, losing by 65 runs.
On the other hand, Sylhet Titans lost a high-octane affair after posting a massive total of 190/5. Rony Talukdar (41) and Saim Ayub (28) laid the foundation with an opening stand, before Hazratullah Zazai (20) joined hands with the former. However, the real spice came from Parvez Hossain Emon (65* off 33) and Afif Hossain (33 off 19). As a result, they posted a mighty score.
However, the Sylhet bowler failed to complement the bowling. Khaled Ahmed and Mahedi Hasan Miraz were the only ones who tasted some success. Najmul Hossain Shanto scored a spellbinding century in the chase - 101 not out off 60 balls to snatch victory from the Titans. Mushfiqur Rahim (51*) also poured salt on the wounds. Thus, the Titans lost to Rajshahi Warriors by eight wickets.
