Rajshahi Warriors kick off their campaign in style, with skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto hammering a scintillating century to make a strong statement. That’s all from the inaugural match of the BPL 2025–26. For now, it’s me, Deepak Prakash, signing off on behalf of co-commentator Ajay Pal Singh, and scorer/analyst Raju Khariya. CHEERS!
Najmul Hossain Shanto (POTM & Rajshahi Warriors Captain): "We won the match, and that’s the most important thing. After the first innings, we knew the wicket would get a bit better to bat on because of the dew. Mushi showed his experience and made my job easier, so I’m really happy with the way we batted. In tournaments like this, momentum is crucial — we have it now, but we have another game tomorrow, so we’ll look to carry it forward."

Time for the post-match predentation......
Mehidy Hasan Miraz (Sylhet Titans Captain): "I think, yes, we batted really well. Emon, the way he batted. 190 is difficult but the wicket is excellent and dew is there so it became difficult. Afif and the way Emon batted was excellent. First 10 overs, it was not easy to bat. After that, the batters played well.

Yeah, definitely. Last two series, he batted at number 4. Next year, there's World Cup, so maybe that's the number for him. Yeah, the support is always there whether we win or lose."
6:06 PM IST, 6:36 PM Local Time: A scintillating partnership between Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mushfiqur Rahim powered Rajshahi Warriors to a commanding eight-wicket victory, as they chased down 190 with two balls to spare. They start their campaign on a high note.

Earlier, Sylhet Titans posted an imposing 190/5 from their 20 overs after being sent in by Rajshahi Warriors. Parvez Hossain Emon anchored the innings with a classy unbeaten 65, while Rony Talukdar played a vital role in holding the innings together early on. Saim Ayub provided a brisk start with 28 before being dismissed by Binura Fernando, and Hazratullah Zazai chipped in with 20 before falling to Sandeep Lamichhane.

Emon then took control alongside Afif Hossain, and the duo launched a fierce counterattack, adding 85 runs for the fourth wicket to put the Rajshahi bowlers under heavy pressure. Afif struck a quick 32 off 19 before being run out on the penultimate ball. For the Warriors, Lamichhane was the pick of the bowlers with 2 for 38, with Fernando (1/31) and Tanzim Hasan Sakib (1/43) also among the wickets.

In reply, Rajshahi Warriors lost Tanzid Hasan Tamim for just 10, while Sahibzada Farhan failed to convert his start, departing for 20 off 19 balls. However, Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mushfiqur Rahim showed great composure and stitched together a vital partnership to steady the chase. The duo capitalised on the loose deliveries and kept the scoreboard moving at a healthy rate.

Shanto went on to bring up a superb century in the opening match of the season, while Rahim sealed the victory with a boundary to complete his half-century. Their unbeaten 130-run stand guided Rajshahi past the target in the final over.

The Titans' bowlers failed to build pressure in the second half of the innings and leaked runs at regular intervals. Khaled Ahmed and Mehidy Hasan Miraz were the only bowlers for them to take a wicket each.

Stay tuned for the presentation......
