The best year for the Indian Women's cricket team in their rich history. A first ever World Cup a couple of months back and now a 5-0 whitewash against Sri Lanka at home in the shortest formats. Plenty of terrific performances across the formats and all over the world in 2025! Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur and head coach Amol Muzumdar will now look ahead to another big tournament to be played next year - the Women's T20 World Cup in England & Wales!
That's it from our coverage of the 5th and final T20I between India and Sri Lanka from Trivandrum. Ninaad Dixit here signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Darpan Tikiya, scorer Rajesh Pal, statistician Aman and AkshayaKrishna Polya for his assistance. Stay tuned for more cricketing action from around the world!

Harmanpreet Kaur (POTM and India Women Captain): "Yeah, I mean, 2025 has been really great for us. For all the hard work we have done, this year we have got the credit. Now, it is all about repeating the good habits we've been on, keeping winning the way we have done this year.
One thing is that we have played a lot of T20 cricket together. It was about believing in ourselves that we can do that. Everyone was positive when Sir (Amol Muzumdar) spoke about the strike rates, lifting our standards. Everyone was happy, and we wanted to set those standards. Going forward, we want to look at this series and think of what we can do ahead.
As a batter, it's my responsibility to give strength to that order and contribute. Shifting to T20 from ODIs wasn't easy but everyone was excited to play. We fought for this and happy how all things came together. We wanted to everyone to be available and play in this series.
Next is WPL which is important for all of us. Hopefully we play our best cricket and enjoy ourselves over there. Next six months are important, we want to keep working hard and raising the bar for all of us. Hopefully, the way things have worked for us in ODIs, we want the same things working for us in the T20s."
Shafali Verma (Player of the Series): "I worked hard this year and I am able to execute it now. I am trying not to repeat the mistake I made today. I will try to play longer innings for my team. ODI and T20s are two different games. ODIs are longer, I love and enjoy playing T20s, I am improving day by day and will get a better player for my team. Happy new year to everyone."
Player of the Series: Shafali Verma
Player of the Match: Harmanpreet Kaur
Chamari Athapaththu (Sri Lanka Women Captain): "Actually, we did not play our best cricket in this tournament. Especially power hitting and batting. But some positives. We were carrying a young side. Hopefully, we can be better in the future.
Some seniors are playing good cricket, but not all of us are doing very well. We need to improve in a couple of areas before the World Cup. We talk about positive things in the dressing room. We were playing good cricket 6-7 months back. Our coach is very good. He motivates us to play to our potential.
Some batters executed the plans in the middle. We gave India a good fight. Thanks to the BCCI and the people of India for having us."
