In another dead rubber of the T20 World Cup 2026, South Africa will lock horns against UAE in a Group D clash at Delhi on Wednesday morning. Proteas have already qualified into the Super 8s while UAE have been eliminated and are waiting only to play their final game of this WC on Wednesday.

South Africa are unbeaten so far and arrive in this fixture after registering a big win against New Zealand in Ahmedabad. Bowling first, Proteas restricted BlackCaps to 175/7 on the back of a magnificent spell from Marco Jansen (4/40). In reply, Proteas chased down the total inside 18 overs with seven wickets in hand. Proteas skipper Aiden Markram played a wonderful knock of 86* off 44 balls.

The side has not suffered any injuries lately. The only couple of injuries that happened were well before their first game in this T20 WC.

Seamer Lungi Ngidi is currently the second-highest wicket-taker, with 8 scalps, of the ongoing WC, while Markram is the fourth-highest run getter with 150 runs.

UAE will now be playing for pride and will look to register their second win of the tournament. The side has registered only one victory (against Canada) so far in this WC.

In their last game against Afghanistan, the side took the game to the final over before getting beaten by five wickets. Batting first, UAE scored 160/9 on the back of Sohaib Khan's 68 (his second fifty on the trot) and Alishan Sharafu's 40 off 31 balls. In reply, Junaid Siddique, who picked up a five-wicket haul against Canada, took 2/23 while Muhammad Arfan also picked two scalps, but the lack of support from other bowlers ensured Afghanistan won this game.

Sohaib is the side's leading run scorer with 126 runs from three innings while Junaid is the leading wicket-taker with seven scalps.

Former India cricketer and UAE coach Lalchand Rajput has already cautioned South Africa not to take the Gulf side lightly. In an interview with a media outlet, Rajput has said that he has been proud of the performance put in by UAE and other Associate nations, and has also advocated for more games between Associates and full-member nations.

UAE have made one change in their squad so far but that also happened before the start of their first game in this WC.

Notably, both teams have never played a T20I against each other yet. Though they played a couple of ODIs amongst them.

UAE might stick to the same playing XI but South Africa might give a rest to a couple of their bowlers before the start of the Super 8 competition.
