VIDARBHA HAVE DONE IT!! Last season they went very close to the silverware but a high flying Karnataka side defeated them in the summit clash. They started this season with a heavy defeat against Bengal as they couldn't defend the 382 runs they scored in the first innings. They tweaked their bowling plans and made a comeback. They lost the Uttar Pradesh match in the group stage but in the knock outs, they did an incredible job. Beating Karnataka was tough as they lost four games against the south Indian state in their previous encounters but they came out with flying colours in the semi-final. Now today in the final, they defeated Saurashtra by 38 runs to finally get their hands to the trophy. With this, the white-ball tournaments in the senior cricket of Indian domestic season 2025/26 comes to an end. Now we will move onto the remainder of the Ranji Trophy fixtures.

For now, this is Saptak Sanyal signing off on behalf of my esteemed co-commentator Manan Mehta and the scorer/analyst of this game Ghanendra Singh Thakur. Good night.
Harsh Dubey collects the Vijay Hazare Trophy and calls his teammates for the celebration. They are posing for the photograph now. They have created history by winning their first ever Vijay Hazare Trophy. Jubilations all around here.
Harsh Dubey (Vidarbha Captain): "Definitely the way we worked hard for the last one month and got the result today, feels really great. In the first match, we got a big score but lost. We worked on our bowling and got the results.

I think the more you play the matches, you will improve. I think IPL and India A games helped me to improve a lot. Yash opened in the first three games but to incorporate an extra batter, we decided to send Taide at the top. He was ready to take the opportunity. I have been saying it that our bowling is perhaps the best in the India.

The plan we make in our room regarding the game has worked and it is really a great feeling."
Aman Mokhade (Player of the tournament):"I had the belief that I will help my team to win. I kept that and got the results. The bunch of us is great so to get chances, you have to compete very well.

Last year we lost against Karnataka and that was in our mind. We decided to put in our hundred percent to win this game. I am very grateful that we have lifted the trophy."
Player of the Series: Aman Mokhade
Atharva Taide (Player of the Match): "Final is a game where all the eyes are on you. I always try to win big matches for my team. I made a small adjustment after dominating the under-16 and under-19 level and that has helped me in the senior level too.

The onus fell on me, Aman and Rathod as one of our highest run getters Dhruv Shorey got ruled out. Our idea was to play till the 45th over. We didn't do that but got a good score in the board. We tried to put our 100% for this final. We know how it feels to be at the receiving end."
Player of the Match: Atharva Taide
Harvik Desai (Saurashtra Captain): "Yes we have played some good cricket throughout the tournament. Just our batting didn't click in the final and we lost the game.

We have done well in the crunch situation and our bowling unit did really well. We kept on winning as our bowling and batting clicked well together. Today we had the confidence of chasing 318 but we lost two wickets in the powerplay. But Chirag Jani and Prerak Mankad played some quality cricket and we made a comeback.

Yes we are playing some good cricket. If we keep this unity going, we will do well in Ranji Trophy."
Time for the post-match presentations.
9:51 PM IST and Local Time: Vidarbha players are celebrating. They are congratulating each other. They are dancing in delight. They have maintained the consistency and toiled hard and finally have got the victory. Harsh Dubey leads his team to victory. Head coach is in tears but it is of happiness. They have beaten Saurashtra by 38 runs in the summit clash.

Batting first in this game, Vidarbha got a good start as Aman Mokhade and Atharva Taide added 80 runs for the opening stand. Mokhade got out for 33 but Yash Rathod took the onus. He accompanied Atharva Taide and they together added 133 runs for the second wicket. Rathod scored 54 runs beside his name from 61 balls. But the star of the show was Atharva Taide. He registered a fine hundred and scored 128 off 118 balls before Ankur Panwar took his wicket. His innings included 15 fours and 3 maximums.

Some contributions from Ravikumar Samarth, skipper Harsh Dubey and Mohammed Faiz took the team score to 317/8 from the 50 overs.

For Saurashtra, Ankur Panwar took 4 wickets for 65 runs. Chetan Sakariya ands Chirag Jani also took a couple of wickets each.

Saurashtra came to bat and got a few boundaries early in the innings and the courtesy goes to Harvik Desai and Vishvaraj Jadeja. But both of them got out in a quick succession and that led them to get reduced to 30/2. Prerak Mankad took the innings forward from that position. He got some support from Sammar Gajjar who scored a fine 25 off 36 balls but Parswaraj Rana took 20 balls to score just 7 runs.

Things got better for Saurashtra as two seasoned campaigners, Prerak Mankad and Chirag Jani stepped up. They played some counter attacking cricket to keep their team in the game. Prerak got to his half-century and they together added 93 runs from 89 balls for the 5th wicket. Mankasd got out by the opposition skipper Harsh Dubey for 88 and that led Vidarbha to comeback again in the game. Chirag Jani was still the threat. Ruchit Ahir and Jani added 45 runs for the 6th wicket before Jani got out for 64 off 63 balls. Saurashtra lost their last four wickets for 29 runs and lost the final eventually by 38 runs.

For Vidarbha, Yash Thakur took 4 wickets for 50 runs. Nachiket Bhute took 3 wickets for 46 runs. Darshan Nalkande chipped in with 2 wickets. Harsh Dubey got the important wicket of Prerak.
