Player of the Match: Aman Mokhade
9:34 PM IST & Local Time: After suffering defeats in 2018, 2022, 2023 and 2025 at the hands of Karnataka, Vidarbha have finally brought that long streak to an end and claimed their revenge. They have beaten Karnataka for the first time in Vijay Hazare Trophy history and booked their place in the summit clash of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025/26. It has been a commanding 6-wicket victory for Vidarbha!
Karnataka won the toss and chose to bat but were put under immediate pressure by an outstanding opening burst from Nachiket Bhute and Yash Thakur. Bhute struck early by removing Mayank Agarwal for 9, while Thakur bowled with real venom, sending down three maidens in his opening spell and repeatedly beating Devdutt Padikkal outside the off stump. The relentless pressure told inside the Powerplay as Padikkal fell for 4, with Vidarbha conceding very little and forcing Karnataka into a cautious start, highlighted by 52 dot balls in the first 10 overs.
Karun Nair dug in after a slow start and gradually found his rhythm, adding 54 runs for the third wicket with Dhruv Prabhakar before the latter fell for 28. Karun Nair then stitched together a vital 113-run partnership with Krishnan Shrijith for the fourth wicket, both batters bringing up well-earned half-centuries to steady the innings. The momentum shifted when Karun was dismissed for 76 against the run of play, followed quickly by Shrijith for 54. Late contributions from Shreyas Gopal (36) and Abhinav Manohar (26) helped Karnataka reach a competitive 280, but Vidarbha finished strongly, bowling them out in 49.4 overs.Darshan Nalkande led the charge with an excellent five-wicket haul, returning figures of 5/48.
In reply, Vidarbha got off to a shaky start as Abhilash Shetty struck early, dismissing Atharva Taide for 6 in the fourth over. It was an early blow that put the chasing side under some pressure. However, the in-form duo of Aman Mokhade and Dhruv Shorey then came together to steady the ship in the middle. The pair showed plenty of patience early on before milking the bowling after the first powerplay, rotating the strike well and keeping the scoreboard ticking.
Karnataka suffered a big blow as Vyshak Vijaykumar struggled to continue bowling after taking a blow on the helmet while batting in the first innings. He was eventually replaced by Manvanth Kumar, with the concussion substitution being brought into play. Abhilash Shetty then struck again in his next spell, dismissing Dhruv Shorey for 47 off 64 balls, and briefly opening the door for Karnataka to make a comeback.
Then came Ravikumar Samarth to the crease to join Aman Mokhade, and the game completely swung Vidarbha’s way. The duo stitched together a match-winning partnership, adding a massive 147 runs for the third wicket and taking the contest away from Karnataka. The Karnataka bowlers found it hard to trouble the two batters as they settled in and dictated terms in the middle.
Aman Mokhade went on to convert his fifty into a commanding hundred, batting with control for most of the chase. He eventually departed after a superb 138 off 122 balls, having done the bulk of the damage. Ravikumar Samarth, on the other hand, stayed till the end and remained unbeaten on 76 off 69 balls, calmly guiding his side home. Vidarbha sealed the win by 6 wickets with 22 balls to spare, booking their place in the summit clash of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025/26 Final.

0 A direct hit at the bowler's end would've been trouble for the Vidarbha skipper. Over the wicket. Length ball around middle stump line. Samarth clips it to mid wicket. DDP at the mentioned position fires a throw at the bowler's end and misses.
