That marks the end of our live coverage of the second season of Nepal Premier League 2025. Lumbini Lions finished at the bottom most position of the points table last year and were in a fidgety position at one stage of the tournament. They are crowned the champions as they defeated the Sudurpaschim Royals by 6 wickets in the grand finale.
For now, this is Saptak Sanyal signing off on behalf of the scorer/analyst of this match Raju Khariya. Switch tabs to follow our coverage of the cricket games happening all around the globe. We will meet again. Until then, it's bye-bye!
Rohit Paudel now receives the champions trophy and calls his teammates for a celebration. This has been a great tournament for the Lumbini Lions and their cricketers are now posing in front of the champions board for some photographs.
Rohit Paudel (Lumbini Lions Captain):"I think everything has fallen in place for me and my time. I am grateful to everyone. From god to my family to my friends- I am thankful to everyone.
Absolutely I didn't think that I will take a hat-trick. I never imagined. I wanted to dedicate it to my family. My mother told in an interview that Lumbini lost because she was not around. She is lucky for me.
Absolutely a complete team effort. Our coaching staff is great. From Tinu sir to all our support staff, all were great. Specially D'Arcy supported me. Ruben gave wickets to us. JJ Smit has done a great job. Diccka (Niroshan Dickwella) was very important for us. Dinesh also did well. Tilak and Abhi (Abhishesh Gautam) were great.
I think the spinners have been a very important part for us. Abhishesh and Tilak are two youngsters who did well. Big credit to the association. Special mention to Paras (Paras Khadka) bhai. It is good to see Nepal cricket grow. We are now able to play under the floodlights. It will help us to get some exposure. NPL is getting talked now.
We are going to prepare for the T20 world cup for the next week."
Time for the Lumbini Lions' cricketers to receive their champions' medals.
Dipendra Singh Airee (Sudurpaschim Royals Captain):"Nothing. Fans are there and I would like to thank them for the unwavering support. We had a bad day today. Our batters failed to express.
I don't think fielding first would've been a great option. I want to name Abinash Bohara, Hemant, Hikamat to do better in the future."
The Sudurpaschim Royals cricketers are getting their runners-up medals now.
Ruben Trumpelmann (Player of the Tournament):"I had no idea that I will get this. Bit lost for words but it is really special. It has been phenomenal. I am truly thankful for everything.
JJ Smit was missed a lot. He ran from long-off to long-on and did everything with a smile on his face. He is somebody who is very dear to me. I will give him a big hug going back.
Tilak bowled extremely well throughout the tournament. He grew in his stature. A guy with a big heart. The way the youngsters did and set their standards can be an inspiration.
I would love to be here again. A phenomenal tournament and I will definitely be here again."
