Time for the post-game presentation.
3:15 PM IST, 3:30 PM Local Time: It turned out to be a topsy-turvy chase after all. In the end, a close finish to the game and the Kathmandu Gorkhas have beaten the Pokhara Avengers by 13 runs. With that, the Kathmandu Gorkhas have officially qualified for the playoffs. 🏆🏆🏆
Chasing 166 runs, the Avengers lost Adam Rossington and Jason Roy inside the powerplay. Adding more salt to the wounds, they lost their third wicket just after the powerplay, and Captain Kushal Bhurtel went packing before the halfway mark.
However, then came the first twist of the tale, as Rishi Dhawan and Dhananjaya Lakshan joined hands in the middle. Initially, the latter was the one who got off the blocks quickly, but Dhawan overtook the Lankan soon. They staged a 76-run stand for the fifth wicket, where the former Indian all-rounder amassed 47 runs off it.
Then came another twist as Karan KC brought himself back to break the 76-run stand by sending back Lakshan. Dhawan soon notched his fifty, but struggled to put balls out of the park. Under pressure, the tailenders and even Dhawan crumbled as they lost the last four wickets inside six runs. After all the drama, Shahab Alam bagged a sixfer, and more importantly, the Gorkhas defended their total of 165/8 by 12 runs.
