Time for post-match presentations...
6:57 PM IST, 7:12 Local Time: After hitting four consecutive boundaries, Pratis gets clean bowled. His entertaining knock comes to an end and with that, Chitwan Rhinos have won this match by 48 runs. Kings, who got all out for 126 inside 17 overs, register their first defeat of the season after winning three on the trot.
Being asked to bat first, Chitwan Rhinos started poorly. Marchant de Lange came out firing with the new ball, dismissing both Rhinos openers during the powerplay. But that only paved the way for Saif Zaib and Dev Khanal to rebuild.
Zaib was aggressive from the outset, while Khanal took his time settling in, yet together they managed to add 42 crucial runs. Sandeep Lamichhane broke that partnership by removing the Nepal batter. Zaib then forged another valuable stand—this time 49 runs—with Ravi Bopara.
Although Lamichhane once again intervened to halt the partnership, he couldn’t prevent Bopara from notching up his third consecutive half-century of the season. The veteran all-rounder played very smartly and almost single-handedly took his side to a total of 174/5.
In reply, Kings also didn't had a good start and lost their openers early but unlike Rhinos, who had a player like Bopara, none of the middle-order batters of the Kings were able to stay in the middle for long and soon started falling like a pack of cards. The side lost their first six wickets before reaching the 50-run mark. There was also a period when not a single boundary was hit for almost six consecutive overs.
In the end, it was only Marchant de Lange, who did some fireworks in the end and ended up scoring 39 off 22 balls. Apart from him, Pratis GC also made 30 off 12, especially on the back of smashing boundaries on the first four deliveries of the 17th over before getting clean bowled on the fifth ball and bringing an end to the Kings' innings at 126/10.
Spinner Ranjit Kumar, making his NPL debut, gave a memorable performance by picking up a five-wicket haul. Apart from that, Kamal Singh Airee took two scalps.
A controversial incident also took place during the match when Sam Heazlett was adjudged LBW. As soon as the Aussie was given out, a local reserve player of the Kings came rushing onto the field to question the umpire's decision. However, he was immediately asked by the umpires to leave the field. This move went against the spirit of the game and raises concerns about the players' behaviour in the tournament.
With this win, Rhinos have moved onto the third spot with two wins from three games. Meanwhile, Kings remain at second position with three wins from four matches.
