That marks the end of our coverage from this high scoring encounter of Abu Dhabi T10 2025 between Deccan Gladiators and Aspin Stallions. Stallions performed better than their opposition in all the facets of the game and are the deserving winners.
For now, this is Saptak Sanyal signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Manan Mehta and the scorer/analyst of this match Ashok Dayma. Good night.
Rahmanullah Gurbaz (Aspin Stallions Captain):"I think it was very important to win because we had to win it to stay in the tournament. Guys played well. We brought two guys in and they performed. Glad to see that.
I just got hurt trying to take the catch but I won't be fine for the next game. Don't worry. Hopefully we will do better in the next game. After losing two games when you win this, it is a good sign for us. Hopefully we continue and win the next game.
Specially the way Tym (Tymal Mills) bowled the second powerplay was the game changer."
Hafeez Ur Rehman (Player of the match): "First of all thanks to Allah. My mother also, who prays for me daily. I have a plan that if the ball swings, then I will keep it stump to stump.
I know that if I miss the line or length I'll get hit. But the management backed me. The conditions were good. Not too much dew so if the ball swings it helps."
Player of the match: Hafeez Ur Rehman
Time for the post-match presentations...
11:28 PM IST and 9:58 PM Local Time : Aspin Stallions have got a crucial victory in the tournament as they defeated Deccan Gladiators by 33 runs. A top class performance from them has outplayed the Gladiators in this game.
Deccan Gladiators skipper won the toss and sent the Stallions to bat first. Andre Fletcher didn't get the expected going but Rahmanullah Gurbaz hit the bowlers for fun. He hit 6 boundaries and 2 sixes on his way to score 48 from 24 balls. But the star of the batting was Sherfane Rutherford. He also scored 48 but remained unbeaten facing 6 lesser balls than his skipper. He hit 7 fours and 2 sixes on his way. Ben Cutting supported him to a tee and added 15 runs from 7 balls with 1 four and as many sixes. Stallions posted a whopping 135/2 on the scoreboard in their 10 overs.
For the Deccan Gladiators, Noor Ahmed took the two wickets.
Deccan Gladiators sent Andre Russell in the opening spot to make the maximum use of the powerplay. Russell was going well and scored 18 off 8 before getting dismissed by Binura Fernando. The other opener Tom Kohler-Cadmore failed with the bat as he scored just 6. Hafeez Rehman removed him and also got the better of David Wiese in the very next ball.
Marcus Stoinis and Nicholas Pooran then took the innings forward. They both got the momentum for a bit but the escalating pressure of asking rate made them to bite the dust. Pooran scored 29 from 15 balls with 2 fours and as many maximums and Stoinis scored 19 from 14 balls. The rest of the batters failed to impress with the bat and the Gladiators ended with 101/6.
For the Stallions, Hafeez ur Rehman took 2 wickets for 13 runs. Tymal Mills, Binura Fernando, Zohair Iqbal and Karim Janat took a wicket each.
