That's it from our coverage of this WBBL game. This is Mohammad Anab signing off on behalf of my colleagues Arjun Bhalla and Ashok Dayma. Cheers.
Phoebe Litchfield (POTM): "It's nice to score some runs but winning a game, especially in front of our home crowd, is awesome. We have broken the curse of our normal playing shirts. Nice to win the game. It has been a topsy-turvy tournament for us. We have had highs and lows in this season. Would have liked to win some more of the tight games this season. Nice to be playing cricket here at Drummoyne Oval. The facilities here are great and the crowd has been awesome."
Player of the Match: Phoebe Litchfield
4:52 PM IST, 10:22 PM Local Time: In the end, it was a clinical victory for the Sydney Thunder, who are almost out of the race for the playoffs. With this victory, they have broken their two-game losing streak.
Batting first, Phoebe Litchfield led the batting from the front and amassed a well-made 61, which took them to a respectable score of 153/7. And the bowlers then made a game out of it.
The Heat lost three wickets early in the powerplay, two to spin and one to pace of Shabnim Ismail. Sam Bates started with a wicket in the first over, but Litchfield removed her and brought in Georgia Voll’s off-break. The golden arm removed Lauren Winfield-Hill. And the Heat could never revive from there.
During the middle phase, Sianna Ginger dropped her anchor and tried to revive this innings. She scored 28, almost at a run-a-ball rate, but she never accelerated her knock.
The batters from the other end also got themselves struck in the middle, as runs stopped coming at the desired run-rate. In the end, the Heat were left with four wickets in the bank, but lost the match by a hefty margin of 23 runs.
W Wicket!!! O'Neil dismissed on the last ball of the match. A fighting knock from her comes to an end. Tossed up. Full at middle-off stump. Tries to get underneath the ball and hit it over the long on boundary but fails to connect it with the bat. She ends up giving a simple catch to long on fielder Litchfield. O'Neil departs for 33. The sixth wicket partnership gets broken after adding 67 runs. Voll picks up her second wicket. Sydney Thunder Women win the game by 23 runs.
19.5 G Voll to A O'Neil
6 SIXXXX!!! That goes through the hands as the fielder failed to flick it inside. Length ball around off-stump. O'Neil smashes it over mid-on. It travels and travels, and goes just over the fielder running in to his right from long-on.
19.4 G Voll to M Wrigley
1 Tossed up. Too full outside off. Drills it down to long on for a solo.
