That's it from our coverage of the 22nd match of the WBBL 2025. This is Mohammad Anab signing off on behalf of our commentators Saptak Sanyal and Akshay Bhide, and our scorer/analyst Manish Bishnoi. Cheers.
Marizanne Kapp (Player of the Match):"Look, I have some memory from the last season. We knew that if we could bat a bit, it would be easier later. To comeback like that and even with the ball, we did well. Brisbane is a good side and I think this will give us massive confidence going forward.
We have been speaking a lot about fielding in the boundary. Every single game we try to do better in the ground fielding and catching. It was good fun in the middle to have such a great night out here with the girls."

5:58 PM IST, 10:28 PM Local Time: A clinical performance by Melbourne Stars Women. They win this game by 18 runs. Brisbane Heat Women lose their fifth match in a row and are yet to win their first game of the season. They remain at the bottom of the points table. Excellent all-round match-winning performance from Marizanne Kapp today.
Having opted to bat, the Stars made a nervy start. Chinelle Henry struck early, removing Rhys McKenna for a silver duck in the second over. The in-form Meg Lanning then edged to first slip and departed for 13 off the bowling of Lucy Hamilton, leaving the Stars at 28/2 by the end of the powerplay. Nadine de Klerk further derailed the innings with a double strike in the seventh over, dismissing captain Annabel Sutherland (6) and Kim Garth (0) off consecutive deliveries. Sasha Moloneyβs dismissal for three in the next over left the Stars in deep trouble at 44/6.
Marizanne Kapp, joined by Danielle Gibson, then initiated the recovery. The pair kept the scoreboard moving steadily and denied the Heat any further breakthroughs. Their partnership yielded 73 runs before Gibson fell for 30 in the 17th over. Kapp unleashed an onslaught in the closing overs, finding boundaries with ease as the Heat bowlers struggled for answers. She finished unbeaten on a stunning 93 off 51 deliveries, featuring nine fours and five sixes, lifting the Stars to a formidable 171/8 after 20 overs.
All five Heat bowlers managed to pick up wickets, with Nadine de Klerk standing out thanks to her impressive 3/24 from four overs.
In reply, Heat had a better start as the pair of Charli Knott (31) and Grace Harris (16) added 50 runs for the opening wicket partnership. However, after Knott's dismissal, all other batters had a start but couldn't convert it into a match-winning innings. After Knott, Georgia Redmayne was the highest scorer of the team with 24 from 17 balls. Chinelle Henry smashed two sixes immediately after coming to the crease but then got out after attempting a third maximum. Wickets at regular intervals derailed the Heat's chase.
Left-arm spinner Sophie Day was the pick of the bowlers for Stars with figures of 3/28 while seamers Kapp and McKenna took two wickets each. Annabel Sutherland also bowled well by giving just 23 runs and picking a wicket in her four overs. She even bowled a brilliant penultimate over as well giving away just four runs in it.
In the end, Heat finished at 153/9 and lost the game by 18 runs. They register their fifth consecutive loss of the season and remain at the bottom of the points table. Stars have registered their third win of the season. They now move up to the third spot in the points ladder.

4 FOURRR! Lucy Hamilton finishes with a boundary and that will be it. Brisbane Heat Women have lost this game by a margin of 18 runs marking their fifth consecutive defeat in the tournament. A fuller than length ball outside off. Hamilton chips it over Prestwidge at mid-off and it eludes the latter to go to the fence on a few bounces inside the rope.

0 Around the wicket. A full delivery angling around leg. Hamilton comes forward to flick but she misses.
