12:31 PM IST, 12:01 PM Local Time: It's time for Lunch on Day 2! An eventful morning session comes to an end, with South Africa dominating and claiming five wickets — all taken by Keshav Maharaj.

Kagiso Rabada bowled beautifully in the first half of the morning session, inducing a few edges, but unfortunately, they fell short of the fielders. Saud Shakeel and Salman Ali Agha lived dangerously early on but gradually found their rhythm as the day progressed, with their partnership crossing the 50-run mark.

Keshav Maharaj operated from one end, while Jansen replaced Rabada later from the other. The decision to persist with Maharaj paid off for Markram, as the left-arm spinner trapped Salman Ali for 45 just before the drinks break, breaking the 70-run sixth-wicket stand.

The breakthrough opened gates for the Proteas as Maharaj continued his impressive bowling and sent back Shakeel (66), Shaheen Afridi (0), Sajid Khan (5), and Asif Afridi (4) in a jiffy after the drinks break. He claimed his 12th five-wicket haul in Tests, finishing with seven wickets to skittle Pakistan for 333 runs.

Aiden Markram and Ryan Rickelton negated the three overs remaining in the session and added 9 runs in it. The opening pair will look to build a partnership and lay a solid foundation, but it will be interesting to see how they fare as the wicket looks tough to bat on, especially against spinners. On the other hand, the hosts will look to make early inroads and put the Proteas under pressue. Join us in 40 minutes for the second session of the day.
