PLAYER OF THE MATCH: ZEESHAN ANSARI
4:38 PM IST, Local Time: A commanding all-round display from Uttar Pradesh as they thrashed Hyderabad by 84 runs to kick off their Vijay Hazare Trophy campaign on a high note.
Earlier, Uttar Pradesh put up an imposing 324/5 after being asked to bat first, riding on a dominant top-order display and a blistering late surge. Openers Abhishek Goswami (81) and Aryan Juyal (80) laid the perfect platform with a superb 152-run partnership, combining patience with smart strokeplay to wear down the Hyderabad bowlers. After both openers fell in quick succession, Dhruv Jurel kept the momentum going with a fluent 80, while skipper Rinku Singh provided the late fireworks, smashing 67 off just 48 balls. Their 87-run stand ensured UP finished strongly, crossing 300 with ease. Hyderabad picked up wickets at intervals but lacked consistency. Arfaz Ahmed Mohammad bagged a couple of wickets for Hyderabad, while Chinntla Rakshan Readdi, Tanay Thyagarajan, and Nitin Sai Yadav chipped in with one wicket each. In reply, Hyderabad lost Abhirath Reddy for a golden duck in just the second over. However, Tanmay Agarwal and Gahlaut Rahul Singh stitched together a vital 94-run stand for the second wicket to rebuild the innings before Zeeshan Ansari trapped Rahul for 32 in his opening over. Tanmay brought up a well-compiled fifty but couldn’t convert it into a bigger score, falling for 53 as Hyderabad lost both set batters in quick succession.
Rahul Buddhi and Aelgani Varun Goud then steadied the ship with a 73-run partnership for the fourth wicket, but Zeeshan Ansari and Prashant Veer turned the game on its head, removing Buddhi (47), Prateek Reddy (2), Arfaz Ahmed Mohammad (0), and Aelgani Varun Goud (45) in quick succession to leave Hyderabad in deep trouble. It was always going to be a tough task for Hyderabad to mount a comeback from such a precarious position, and they were eventually bowled out for 240 in 43 overs.
Zeeshan Ansari led the charge with a four-wicket haul, while Prashant Veer provided excellent support with three scalps. Kartik Tyagi picked up two wickets, and Vipraj Nigam chipped in with one as Uttar Pradesh wrapped up a comprehensive win.
W OUT! TAKEN! DONE AND DUSTED! GAME... SET.... MATCH!!! UTTAR PRADESH HAVE DEFEATED HYDERABAD BY 84 RUNS!!! Full and around off, skidding through. Kak clears his front leg away and tries to take on the bowler. But as he is close to the pitch of the delivery, he ends up mistiming it off the cue end of the bat to long on. Nigam runs forward a bit and pouches it. IT IS A BIG WIN FOR UP!

0 A bit shorter and outside off, spinning away. Kak watches the line and withdraws his shot.
42.4 Z Ansari to Readdi
