Player of the Match: Saumya Lenka
8:05 PM IST, Local Time: WHAT A GAME IT WAS!! Cricket is a game of small margins and this clash between Odisha and Railways defined it in all senses. Both teams were neck to neck through the 40 overs of play, but Odisha eventually edged past Railways.
Chasing 170 runs, the Railways team lost three wickets inside the powerplay, but then Akshat Pandey and Suraj Ahuja teamed up. The duo revived it with a brief partnership of 39 runs to bring the Railways into the chase. Then, Pandey stitched a fiery stand with Ravi Singh of 49 runs, where the former played the aggressor. He notched up a fifty and gave the team all hope.
However, he was sent packing on the score of 60 runs, after the team lost Ravi. These two wickets broke the momentum for the Railways. Ashutosh Sharma then tried to finish off the game, after struggling for the initial bit. The IPL star did put one into the stands, but was found guilty of edging one off Rajesh Mohanty.
In the fag-end, Kunal Yadav gave them one more hope by smashing his first ball for a six, which brought down the equation to four needed off the final delivery. Kunal drove a yorker towards long-off, and tried sneaking a triple off it... but only to get Raj Kamal Chaudhary run out at the keeper's end.
With the ball, Mohanty took two wickets, while Saumya Lenka snapped a three. Prayash Sharma and Biplap Samantray also scalped two and one wickets, respectively. That's how Odisha won it by one run.
2W Here we go! Drama, drama, drama. Is it a run-out? A yorker on the off-stump. Kunal makes a little room and drives through mid-off. He runs away straightaway. They run the first one hard, come back for the second run... they look to convert it into a triple but Raj Kamal gets run-out at the keeper's end. The bowler collected the throw from the deep and quickly parried it to the keeper. Swain made no mistake there. Eventually, Odisha win it by a small margin of just one run.
FOUR RUNS needed on the final ball.
19.5 S Lenka to K Yadav
6 SIXXXXX!! Game is on for the Railways. Length and outside off. Kunal shuffles towards the line of the ball and pumps it over the bowler's head. He goes well over long-on for a big shot.
