After going down in a rain-affected opener, Sri Lanka find themselves in a must-win situation as they take on England in the second T20I of the three-match series on Sunday (February 1). The contest will be played at the Pallekele International Stadium.

In the first game, England opted to bowl and bundled Sri Lanka out for 133 in 16.2 overs. The match started an hour and 40 minutes after the scheduled start due to rain, and the fixture was reduced to a 17-overs-per-side contest.

Sam Curran starred with the ball, picking up a hat-trick. Adil Rashid was superb with his leg-spin, returning figures of three for 19 from his four overs. Jamie Overton and Liam Dawson bagged two wickets apiece.

Kusal Mendis top-scored with 37, while the next best contribution came from Pathum Nissanka, who made 23 off 20 balls. Dasun Shanaka chipped in with 20 off 16, but it was an overall disappointing batting performance from the hosts.

In reply, Jos Buttler perished after a rapid start. Jacob Bethell struggled to get going and was dismissed for 9 off 11 balls despite hitting two boundaries. Tom Banton and Phil Salt then added 39 runs off 26 balls for the third wicket.

Salt top-scored with 46 and fell four runs short of a half-century. Harry Brook was unbeaten on 16 off 18 balls, and Sam Curran had just joined him in the middle when another spell of rain arrived, bringing the match to an end after 15 overs.

England were 11 runs ahead of the DLS par score when rain arrived, and with no further play possible, the visitors were adjudged winners via the DLS method.
