Milestone
As the fireworks illuminated the Christchurch sky, a roar erupted from the Northern Brave faithful that signaled the dawn of a new reign. Robert O’Donnell, the composed skipper who had steered his side through the summer’s challenges, stepped forward to finally claim the silverware that had eluded so many before.

With a beaming smile, he hoisted the Super Smash trophy high, and the scene instantly shifted into a jubilant blur of pink and black. His teammates surged forward, congregating behind a massive, gleaming board that screamed "CHAMPIONS" in bold lettering. The trophy began its rounds, passed from the veteran hands of Scott Kuggeleijn to the exuberant Brett Hampton - the man of the hour, as each player took their turn lifting it toward the heavens to the beat of celebratory music.

The circle of joy quickly widened as the coaching staff and support crew joined the fray, donning winners' medals and exchanging bone-crushing hugs with the athletes. As the official photographers swarmed the pitch, the entire Northern Brave contingent settled into a classic victory pose - some kneeling, others perched on shoulders, but all united by the same look of pure, unadulterated triumph. It is a picture-perfect ending to a clinical 5-wicket victory, immortalizing a night where they didn't just play the final - they owned it.

Until then, I am Dev Rajawat, signing off, along with my co-commentator, Manan Mehta, and scorer Bishal Mandal. That’s it from our side. Thanks for joining. But cricket doesn’t sleep. Plenty is happening around the world. Switch tabs, follow the fun. Goodbye from this tab! TAKE CARE! BREATHE AND SMILE! CIAO!
Robert O'Donnell (Northern Brave Captain): "Yeah it's been one of the seasons where we got off to a slow start but once we got off to some rhythm we got back in the game. We have Bash Bros right at the top.

We spoke about winning key moments. Maybe 20 runs here and there, a dot ball or a maiden somewhere. It is all about enjoying the game.

There is a lot of talent to come in the Super Smash. We are keeping an eye on the U19 CWC. Couple of our boys are there right now.

The Kings have been a superb team. It is always tough to beat them. There is a reason why they have played so many finals. Glad that we could come out trumps on the big day."
Cole McConchie (Canterbury Captain): “Yeah, absolutely. Northern Brave have been the benchmark team in the competition this season, and the way they played today was no different. Full credit to them - they were outstanding.

I thought the partnership between Leo and Hay really brought us back into the game and dragged us up to what felt like a par score. Heading into the second half, we were optimistic, but we also knew that with the way Hampton and Carter have been striking the ball all season, they were always going to be difficult to contain if they got a fast start.

At around 170, we felt we’d given ourselves a real chance, even if it was a slightly unconventional way to get there. But ultimately, we needed wickets early. Once those guys get away from you at the top, it becomes very hard to pull it back, and their clean ball-striking was exceptional. They’ve done it consistently all season, and they thoroughly deserved the win.

And honestly, beyond the result, it’s been a special occasion here at home. The crowds over the last couple of days have been fantastic. There was a real buzz around town, and it’s amazing to see so many young kids coming out to support domestic cricket, even a few ND fans giving it to us a bit, which was great to see. Hagley has been full, the atmosphere has been brilliant, and it’s been a wonderful way to finish the competition.”
Katene Clarke (Player of the Series): "I try to do it for the team. Yeah, just taking it every ball as it comes.

When you are batting with Hampton, you just give him as much strike as you can when he is hitting it as much. Cheers."
Player of the Series: Katene Clarke
Brett Hampton (Player of the Match): “Yeah, obviously it’s an amazing feeling. To win tonight and lift the trophy was our goal from the very start of the tournament, and I’m just thrilled we were able to do it.

Massive credit to the lads - we’ve played fantastic cricket all season. It’s been a real team effort. We’ve played collectively, everyone has contributed at different times, and that’s what makes a championship campaign so special.

Katene has had one hell of a tournament as well. I’ve honestly just been able to ride off his form. Opening the batting with someone like that takes so much pressure off the other player, and we’ve been able to build some really good partnerships at the top.

Moving up the order was something I embraced with open arms. I started at number three, and then when Joe Carter picked up a bit of an injury, it created the opportunity for me to open. From there, it’s just been about taking the chances, playing my role, and enjoying batting alongside Katene.

To contribute with both bat and ball in the final makes it even more special, but the main thing is that we achieved what we set out to do as a group. It’s been an incredible year, and I’m really proud to be part of this team.”

Time for the Post Match Presentations...
1:35 PM IST and 9:05 PM Local Time: The Northern Brave win by 5 wickets! They are Champions of the Super Smash 2025-26! They have made a mockery of the target and have played like the best team of the tournament does. This is a stunning bit of cricket from the Brave for the last month, and they are deserving winners today!

The Northern Brave won the toss and elected to bowl first
. Their bowlers responded beautifully as Zak Gibson started with a wicket maiden and the other followed his path. Brett Hampton was superb and got three quick wickets to reduce the Kings to 57/5 inside 9 overs.

It felt like the Kings will get bundled out inside a 100 at that stage. However, Mitch Hay and Leo Carter had different plans. They settled the nerves initially and opened their arms once they got settled. They slammed the ball left right and center at the back end. Both batters got to their respective fifties and notched up a stunning 114 runs unbeaten stand.

They pushed the score to 171/5 in their 20 overs. Which included a 26-run final over. The pick of the bowlers was Brett Hampton with 3-37. The score looked around par at the halfway stage and with the kind of recovery the Kings made, the momentum was certainly with them.

However, as soon as the chase started, the Brave wrestled momentum back in their favor. Brett Hampton carried his bowling form into his batting and smashed the new ball bowlers left, right and center. He was accompanied by Katene Clarke, and the openers killed the essence of the chase in the powerplay itself.

The openers got 73 runs off the powerplay and took the score to 89 in 8 overs before the first wicket fell. Katene Clarke was dismissed for 33 and soon Brett Hampton followed him with 55 to his name. It was a superb half century from him, and he backed his bowling performance with the bat.

However, at that point the Brave crashed into a speed breaker. From 89/1 they were reduced to 112/4. The run rate started to rise, and things got a little interesting. However, l, number 3, Joe Carter was still out there, and he scored a very calm 47 to take them close to the target. By the time he was dismissed all they needed was formalities to be completed by Scott Kuggeleijn and Ben Pomare to see the Northern Brave get to their Super Smash 2025-26 Title!

The pick of the bowlers for the Kings was Michael Rae with 3-37 in his 4 overs. The Kings have been a good side but today they just did not have enough of fuel with themselves to get past the finish line. It is the fifth title for the Northen Brave! They have previously one it in 2013-14, 2017-18, 2021-22 and 2022-23. Now add 2025-26 to that list!
