Milestone
McLean Park in Napier provided an absolute test for the batters of both sides. With 200 being breached rather too often around the globe, a low scoring thriller like this is so pleasing to watch. The bowlers were the bosses tonight and the Stags were the ultimate winners. The Kiwi carnival moves to Dunedin tomorrow. The Otago Volts taken on the Northern Brave. Should be a cracker of aa contest. Do join us!

On this note, I, Manan Mehta would like to take your leave on behalf of my colleagues Karthik Raj and Bishal Mandal. B-byeee!!!
Ajaz Patel (POTM): "Yeah it was a cracker of the game. Credit to our bowlers on how we ended up defending this. We had the foresight of how this wicket played in the last game. The run out was all about priding yourself in the field. It always feels good.

We at the halfway mark knew that we are 20 under par. But we knew that if we take a few early wickets and put pressure on the chasing side, we can always make a game out of this.

I think we play our best when our backs are against the wall. Blair is a great bloke. Superb bowler and more importantly his energy just brushes off on all of us in the change room."

Time for the Post-Match Presentations...
1:49 PM IST and 9:19 PM Local Time: Central Stags win by 10 runs! This has been some bowling performance from the home side. The Napier wicket was a test for the batters. The Stags' batter outshined the Aces' batters by 10 runs. They keep the qualification hopes alive and extended their winning streak over the Aces to 7-0!

The Auckland Aces won the toss and elected to bowl first on a tricky Napier wicket. It wasn't all that easy going for the Stags' openers. Mason Hughes was dismissed cheaply. However, post that Dean Foxcroft and Dane Cleaver stitched. 47 runs stand and in good time before Cleaver was dismissed trying to push further.

Captain Tom Bruce joined Foxcroft and the pair at a sluggish rate pushed the score to a 100. Foxcroft notched up his 50 before getting dismissed at that point. The middle overs choke was introduced by the Aces in the form of Harjot Johal and Siddhesh Dixit. The pace and spin duo restricted the scoring big time and ran through the middle order.

From 100/2 in 13 overs. The Stags slipped to 125/5 in 17 overs. They eventually finished with 142/7 next to their name. The Aces bowlers gave less than a run a ball in the final five overs. The pick of the bowlers were Siddhesh Dixit (3-20) and Harjot Johal (2-24).

The score at that stage looked 20 under par but on a tricky wicket, some early wickets could help. The chase did not start on the best note. Both Dale Phillips and Martin Guptill were struggling to cope up with the up and down nature of the surface. The first wicket fell at 30 when Phillips was dismissed for a 13-ball 15.

Guptill was joined by Adam Jones and the pair took the score to 52 before Guptill was dismissed. The Kiwi pro just could not find his timing and was dismissed for a 23-ball 15. Adam Jones played some attacking strokes and brought the Aces back into the contest.

Just when you thought the visitors will forge ahead, some silly wandering from Jones caught him short of the crease by some smart Ajaz Patel work. The score was 76/3 with that wicket. The rate started to climb again with two new batters at the crease.

Blair Tickner who was making a comeback after a 6 weeks injury lay off was superb in the 15th over. He took two wickets and further educed the Aces to 91/4! Bevon Jacobs was left out there with the tail and too much to do!

The equation came down to 39 off 3 overs. Both Harjot Johal and Jacobs swung the bat left right and center. They got 13 off that over and brought the score to 26 off 2 overs. That is when Joey Field inflicted the killer blow. Got rid of both the batters in a span off 3 balls. Eventually the Aces were restricted to 132/8! The pick of the bowlers for the Stags were Ajaz Patel (2-20), Blair Tickner (2-24) and Joey Field (2-25).

19.6 B Randell to R Gulati
1 Super bowling performance from the Central Stags! They have defended a modest total in fine fashion! Length ball on the stumps, Gulati tucks this around the corner for a single. The Central Stags win by 10 runs!
19.5 B Randell to A Olliver
1 Length ball outside off stump, Olliver pulls it to the deep midwicket fielder for a single. An unlikely 12 runs needed off the last ball!
Deep square leg, deep fine leg and deep midwicket in position now. Expect this one to be on the body!
