Well, it was all Northern Brave for the first 30 overs for this match. There was a little bit of Canterbury Kings at the back end but that was helpful in just limiting the NRR damage. Brave were superior with bat and ball and well, they are the deserving winners. The Kiwi carnival moves back to Wellington tomorrow. The Wellington Firebirds will take on the Otago Volts. Do join us for that!
On this note, I, Manan Mehta would like to sign off on behalf of my colleagues Akshay Bhide, Anirudh Modi and Sachin Yadav.
Katene Clarke (Player of the Match): "Don't know what to say to be honest. The boys batted really well. I felt comfortable out there and yeah it was a good day out. To be honest I am not feeling good movement wise but the ball is coming off the bat really well so that helps.
Beating Canterbury is always great. They are not full strength but beating them is always fun. My legs gave up in the end and yeah that made me miss out on the ton."

9:55 AM IST, 5:25 PM Local Time | A comprehensive victory from Northern Brave to notch up their first victory of the season! A dominant performance to take this game by 87 runs! Canterbury Kings were never in this contest.
Canterbury Kings won the toss and elected to field first! That was the last time where their name was associated with winning in this match. The opening duo of Brett Hampton and Katene Clarke blew away the Kings' bowling attack to establish a 105-run opening partnership before McConchie broke the partnership by dismissing Brett Hampton for 61 runs.
Katene Clarke went onto score 97 runs off 58 balls, and with the support of Xavier Bell's unbeaten 53 runs off 21 balls, Northern Brave managed to put up a mammoth total of 240/4 from their 20 overs.
Skipper Cole McConchie was the best bowler for Kings with 2/32 from 3 overs. He was the only wicket-taker in this innings.
Come the chase, with the ground small, it was expected to be competitive. However, Scott Kuggeleijn, Matt Fisher, and Brett Hampton had other ideas as the trio combined to reduce Canterbury Kings to 38/6 at the end of the powerplay!
It all started with Scott Kuggeleijn picking up the wicket of Tom Latham (5). Matt Fisher followed it up with the wicket of Matthew Boyle (2). Brett Hampton produced a hand of God as Rhys Mariu was dimissed in an unfortunate run-out for 15 runs.
Matt Fisher was given the runway to complete his over, and he paid it off with a double-strike in the 5th over with the wickets of Cole McConchie (2) and Henry Chamberlain (0). Hampton completed the rout with the wicket of Cameron Paul (2) in the final powerplay over.
The pacers of the Brave bowled with consistency and discipline to put their team in the driving seat. However, Tim Pringle ensured the spinners were not left alone, as he dismissed Ish Sodhi to make it 44/7 in the 8th over.
Canterbury Kings eventually showed some fight with good partnerships down the order that allowed them to bat out the 20 overs. Leo Carter played a crucial role with 27 runs off 23 balls, L Harper struck a majestic 42 runs off 27 balls, and Scott Davey stayed unbeaten at 38 runs off 29 balls to help the cause.
Matt Fisher finished the match with 3/27 to his name from 4 overs. Scott Kuggeleijn registered 2/29 from his 4 overs. While, Brett Hampton, Tim Pringle, and Joshua Brown contributed with a solitary wicket each.
Northern Brave move to 4th in the points table with 8 points on the board. Canterbury Kings stay at the top, but see their winning start to the season come to an end!
