That's the end of our coverage of the second game of the UAE Tri-Series 2025 between Pakistan and UAE. Pakistani batters batted well to score 207 in their 20 overs. UAE lost their plot after getting a good start in the run chase but regained the momentum and the courtesy goes to Asif Khan. He batted fantastically but failed to get the required assistance from the other end which led UAE to finish 31 runs short of Pakistan's score.
For now, this is Saptak Sanyal signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Karthik Raj and the scorer/analyst of this match Manish Bishnoi. Good night.
Salman Ali Agha (Pakistan Captain):"It was a perfect batting game. First 15 overs with the ball also we were good, but we need to work on our death bowling. It is a concern. I have been saying that he is a generational talent. He has a great future and I hope he can do well for a long time. We are working on our death bowling, we need to be better in this aspect. But overall, we have done well."
Muhammad Waseem (United Arab Emirates Captain):"It's a very good game. We gave 15-20 runs extra. Asif has a calibre to play these sort of innings. I think we missed someone to score 30-40 runs in the middle and that's where we were short too.
We finished well in the powerplay with the ball but gave too many runs in the middle overs. We will try our best in the next game."
Saim Ayub (Player of the Match):"The team always needs performances from different players. It is a good sign. I don't like individual records, they are over-rated. If the team wins, its enough. You have to wait for the bad balls and play according to the pitch. I am working on it with the coach. Trying to improve every day. It is difficult but if you stay fearless, it is easy."
Saim Ayub gets the 'Player of the Match' award.
Asif Khan gets rewarded the 'Energetic Batter of the Match'.
Time for the Post-match Presentation!
12:10 AM IST and 10:40 PM Local Time | Pakistan have won back to back games in this Tri-Series so far. They have defeated UAE by 31 runs in their second match and are at the top of the points table.
After winning the toss, Agha Salman decided to bat first. Saim Ayub proved the decision right. He led the innings from the front despite the wickets falling at the other end. Sahibzada Farhan, Fakhar Zaman and skipper Salman failed but Ayub hit his shots. He dispatched every back of length ball and escalated the run rate. Saim Ayub top scored for Pakistan scoring 69 off 38 balls before inside edging a flick to Rahul Chopra off Saghir Khan.
Hasan Nawaz and Mohammad Nawaz then took the onus with the former becoming the aggressor. They added 57 runs for the 5th wicket and Hasan Nawaz scored 42 off it in just 16 balls. Hasan Nawaz scored 56 runs off 26 balls with 2 fours and 6 maximums. Then a couple of cameos from Mohammad Nawaz and Faheem Ashraf helped Pakistan to breach the 200-run mark and post 207 on the board.
For UAE, Saghir Khan and Junaid Siddique took three wickets each. Haider Ali chipped in with a couple of wickets.
UAE started the innings well as their talismanic skipper Muhammad Waseem found the boundaries at regular intervals in the powerplay. Zuhaib Khan got out on 13 but Waseem kept going. He was batting well on 33 off 18 hitting 3 fours and 2 sixes. In the penultimate ball of the powerplay, he tried to snatch the third run forcefully and ended up miscommunicating with Ethan Carl D'Souza and sacrificed his wicket. In the very next ball, Hasan Ali got the better of D'Souza and UAE were reduced to 54/3 after the powerplay overs. They lost Alishan Sharafu and Rahul Chopra cheaply and the scoreboard read 76/5 for them.
Right after that, Asif Khan stepped up. He got Dhruv Parashar as his partner who just played the second fiddle. Asif Khan hit the ball to the every corner of the ground and kept UAE in the hunt. He and Parashar added 54 runs for the 6th wicket in 36 balls before the latter perished scoring 15 off 19 balls. Then Asif got Saghir Khan by his side. He reached to his fifty in just 25 balls and later on he went to score 77 runs off 35 balls with 6 fours and as many sixes. He hit the Pakistan pacers and spinners at over 200 strike rate! A phenomenal innings from him it was but ended in a losing cause due to the lack of support from the other end. UAE finished with 176/8 on the board after their 20 overs.
For Pakistan, Hasan Ali picked up 3 wickets for 47 runs. Mohammad Nawaz took 2 wickets for 21 runs. Salman Mirza and Saim Ayub celebrated a wicket each.
