Equation: Karnataka trail by 364 Runs and have 5 Wickets in hand. Not always do the 8-time Ranji Trophy champions find themselves in a precarious position like this. However, there is a first time for everything and unluckily for them it has come in the final against an extremely confident and passionate Jammu and Kashmir side.

Talking about firsts, this is the first Ranji Trophy final that Jammu and Kashmir are playing in their 67-year history of domestic cricket. It has been a long road to reach this stage, and they are not going back down easily.

They won the toss, batted first and put up a daunting 584. Auqib Nabi, their premiere fast bowler in no time reduced Karnataka to 57/4. Some big names were back in the hut. That is when Mayank Agarwal led the fight back with a counterattacking 100.

He is still batting on 130 Not Out. We are 11 overs away from the new ball. Nabi vs Mayank will be a box office contest with the old ball as well as the new ball. It might as well decide if Karnataka can put up a fight or not as well. Stay tuned for live action...
8:30 AM IST and Local Time: Good morning Folks! I am glad to welcome you all to the ball-by-ball coverage of Day 4 of the ongoing Ranji Trophy final. Jammu and Kashmir are taking on Karnataka, and the match is poised interestingly as we head into today.

I, Manan Mehta alongside my co-commentator Karthik Raj will take you through this intriguing day. Our scorer for today would be Rajesh Pal.
That is it then from Hubli for Day 3 of this fascinating Ranji Trophy final! Karnataka have a massive task still in front of them. They trail by 364 more runs and have just 5 wickets. Mayank Agarwal is capable of producing and innings to nullify that. However, he has Auqib Nabi to counter for that!

We will be back for DAY 4 tomorrow at 8.30 AM IST for pre match formalities and live action will begin at 9.30 AM! Stay tuned and join us here at CREX!

On this note, I Manan Mehta would like to take your leave on behalf of my colleagues Deepak Prakash and Dushyant Madhukar Kumar. B-byeee!!!

5:30 PM IST and Local Time: STUMPS ON DAY 3! Karnataka: 220/5! It has truly been a moving day in this 5-day final! Grueling day of red ball cricket and it has moved at a good pace. Mayank Agarwal and Auqib Nabi have been the two best performers of the day. One with bat and one with ball. Both still have a lot to contribute as we will move into Day 4 tomorrow!

The Day started with Jammu and Kashmir continuing their innings at 527/6. The overnight batters Abid Mushtaq and Sahil Lotra could not add much as wickets fell on 539, 543, 573 and 584, where the team was eventually bundled out. Prasidh Krishna led the collapse as he took a fifer and knocked over the tail with sheer pace. He ended with figures of 5-98.

The Karnataka openers had to survive a tricky period before lunch. Mayank Agarwal did survive but KL Rahul could not. He was repeatedly troubled by Auqib Nabi before one ball actually caught the edge to get him dismissed.

Post lunch Karnataka saw a mini collapse and that was courtesy of Sunil Kumar who dismissed Devdutt Padikkal and Nabi who dismissed Karun Nair and Samaran Ravichandran. From 56/1, Karnataka slipped to 57/4. They were in tatters at that point. However, Mayank took responsibility and played a mature innings from then on.

He found good support in Shreyas Gopal as the pair stitched a 105-run stand they saw through tea. However, post tea one ball that came back sharply in off the wicket trapped Gopal for 25, and that broke the stand.

Mayank Agarwal though continued strongly and once again found support, this time in the form of the wicket keeper Kruthik Krishna. He supported the experienced pro well which allowed Mayank to get to his well deserved 100. J&K threw everything at the batters in that last session but couldn't separate the pair.

They saw out the day eventually and have stitched a strong 58-run stand. Mayank is not out on 130 and Krishna is unbeaten on 27. Can the pair add more to the tally tomorrow? We have 11 overs left before the second new ball. Auqib Nabi who has figures of 3-32 as of now will be breathing fire with that. Can Karnataka battle it out?
