Bengal were sent to bat first earlier in the day and lost the first wicket as Sudip Chatterjee got dismissed by Sunil Kumar for a silver duck. Sudip Kumar Gharami had a tough time out there in the middle earlier facing the new ball but he did well to survive and got the rub of the green too. He added 85 runs with his skipper Abhimanyu Easwaran who got dismissed for 49. Auqib Nabi rattled the Bengal skipper's off stump and a few balls later, he removed Suraj Sindhu Jaiswal for a five-ball duck.
Bengal were in dire need of a partnership and that's when Anustup Majumdar joined Gharami. They together took their time and then Gharami took on Abid Mushtaq. The 4th wicket stand was of 66 runs and it came to an end as Abid Mushtaq trapped Anustup in front for 14. The ball tracking showed that it was umpire's call. Shahbaz Ahmed then joined Gharami.
Sudip Gharami notched up his 8th FC hundred and followed the historic 299 with another century. He got there and remained steady afterwards. The best thing about his innings was he went for strokes after being cent percent confident. Yes that was not a chanceless innings but he batted in a commendable fashion. He is unbeaten on 136 off 227 balls hitting 19 fours and the only maximum which he hit in the 19th ball of his innings to get off the mark.
Shahbaz Ahmed was dropped once by Kanhaiya Wadhawan on 1 and made the opportunity count. He added 94 runs with Gharami but got dismissed in the last ball of the day scoring a fine 42 off 91 balls.
For Jammu and Kashmir, Sunil Kumar and Auqib Nabi took a couple of wickets each and Abid Mushtaq removed Anustup.
W This time up goes the finger! Shahbaz Ahmed goes for the DRS. Good length delivery at the off stump. 128.5 kmph.
