5:02 PM IST, Local Time: Stumps on day 1! The opening day of the 2nd Ranji Trophy quarter-final between Madhya Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir belongs to hosts MP as they skittle J&K for 194 and add 28 runs unscathed at the close of play.
Rajat Patidar won the toss and elected to bowl first. It was a steady start from J&K openers Shubham Khajuria (60 off 140) and Yawer Hassan Khan (13 off 48). Skipper Paras Dogra (33 off 91) added 79 for the 3rd wicket with Khajuria.
Some quick wickets followed in the afternoon session but Yudhvir Singh at the bottom of the order went in attacking mode and smashed 41 in 35 balls to take the side close to 200. Kuldeep Sen was the star with the ball with 5/66. Kumar Kartikeya picked up 3/26 and Aryan Pandey was brilliant in his 18 overs claiming 2/27.
With 50 minutes to bat on the opening day, MP openers Harsh Gawli (8* off 29) and Yash Dubey (14* off 36) batted cautiously to see off 10 overs from Auqib Nabi (0/15), Sunil Kumar (0/10) and Yudhvir Singh (0/2).
The hosts will look to bat big and bat once as they take the field again on day 2.
