History has been created here at the Holkar Stadium in Indore. The home side has been outplayed by a much more skilled team and with that Jammu and Kashmir can call themselves proud semifinalists. However, seeing the DNA of this side with coach Ajay Sharma at the helm, they will be saying, "Two More Wins are a Must." Can the fairytale of Jammu and Kashmir add more such chapters? We will find out soon.

On this note, I, Manan Mehta, would like to sign off on behalf of my colleagues Saptak Sanyal and Dushyant Madhukar Kumar. B-byeee!!!
Paras Dogra (Jammu and Kashmir Captain): "It means a lot to be honest. We lost the quarter final last year by just one run. It feels good to win this year.

It is definitely not about the players. It is about all the staffs, everyone with the team. We are looking to win the Ranji Trophy. They have been up to the mark, helping each other. It is not only about who are playing. Those who are sitting out are also improving. We are playing the same team for the last 3-4 years and that is why we are getting the results."
Auqib Nabi (Player of the Match): "It feels good. First time reaching the semifinals feels really good. Last year we missed out because of 1 run. This time to push forward we feel amazing. Wherever we went, everyone would talk about that one run. Now it feels nice to enter the semifinals.

Credit goes to the bowling coach. We never had a bowling coach before. Last 2-3 years we have got a bowling coach and that has helped us a lot. Everyone has contributed beautifully and without them we would not have been here. Very excited for the next game."
Player of the Match: Auqib Nabi
Rajat Patidar (Madhya Pradesh Captain): "I think we were not that much consistent in terms of bowling. There are a lot of errors made by us. According to me, we don't deserve to get to the semi final. I think one bowler made a huge difference, Auqib Nabi. Yes well done."
1:37 PM IST and Local Time: Jammu and Kashmir win by 56 runs! J&K create Ranji Trophy history by qualifying for the Semifinals for the very first time. They are chuffed to bits and are celebrating big time. Auqib Nabi ruled with 12 wickets to his name in the match. He was superbly backed by 10 other excellent crickets in his side.

For MP, they were just below par this match. They have won this event previously, but they will have to admit that they were out-skilled by a better and a more desperate team. They have been knocked out and will hope to comeback stronger next time around.

Madhya Pradesh won the toss and elected to bowl on a wicket that had some assistance for the pacers. Kuldeep Sen for the MP side wreaked havoc in the first innings as he bagged 5 wickets on that juicy surface. He was assisted by Kumar Kartikeya who got 3 scalps to his name. From the J & K side, only Shubham Khajuria stood strong with 60 to his name. Apart from him, the top and the middle order struggled to cope up with the pace and nip around. So late order striking from Yudhvir Singh (41) allowed J & K to get to 194 in their first innings. The pick of the bowlers for MP were Kuldeep Sen (5-66) and Kumar Kartikeya (3-26). By the End of day 1, MP found themselves batting at 28/0, trailing by 166.

The next morning saw and inspired spell from Auqib Nabi who ran through the MP top order within no time he reduced the team to 54/4. Both Venkatesh Iyer and Yash Dubey from there on brought some solidity and pushed the score up to 106/4. That is when Venkatesh Iyer got dismissed once again by Nabi. The MP side hit a collapse once again as from 106/4, they slipped to 137/9 and eventually 152 All Out. Dubey was the only batter who showed application for his 58. Nabi was the star of the show with 7-40. With the wicket still providing a lot to the quick bowlers, MP had no clue how to play Nabi. J & K were back in the middle with the bat and had a lead of 42 runs. They endured a horrible start themselves after the MP quicks, Sen and Ramveer Gujjar reduced them to 19/3. There was a small partnership Paras Dogra and Abdul Samad but part-timer Venkatesh Iyer got rid of both of them just before the end of Day 2. MP J&K were 84/5 leading by 126 runs at that point.

Day 3 began on a positive note for J&K. Kanhaiya Wadhawan and Abid Mushtaq led the counterattack and took the score to 124/5. They together brought up a 50 runs stand as well. However, Kuldeep Sen ran through that pair and the lower order to reduce the J&K side from 124/5 to 147/8. It felt like MP would wrap this up early and earn themselves a 200-run target. However, the resistance shown post that from J&K was remarkable. Number 8 Vanshaj Sharma stitched valuable partnerships of 36 and 65 with number 10 Yudhvir Singh and number 11 Sunil Kumar. Vanshaj himself reached 54 Not Out. The last pair made the MP bowlers toil and almost batted 30 overs. J&K carved out a 290 runs lead as the 10th wicket fell. The pick of the bowlers for MP in that innings were Kuldeep Sen (4-65) and Venkatesh Iyer (3-23). The MP team were all of a sudden set a massive target of 291 in the final innings.

The MP openers started positively with both opening batters getting off to solid starts. However, one quick short ball from Nabi, opened the gates. The first wicket fell at 34 and soon the second and third followed for MP to find themselves at 57/3. There was a small partnership between Shubham Sharma and Rajat Patidar. However, that too didn't last long enough as Nabi reintroduction into the attack saw two wickets fall in two balls. The nightwatchman was also taken out and the MP side struggled at 87/5 at the end of Day 3. The equation at that point was that MP needed 204 more runs with just 5 wickets in hand.

Overnight batters, Venkatesh Iyer and Shubham Sharma added 17 runs to the score before Iyer was caught behind after showing poor technique. There was some resurgence post that in the form of an aggressive Saransh Jain and Shubham Sharma. Both batters scored quickly and notched up a 41 runs stand before the spin of Abid Mushtaq got rid of Shubham. Post that Ramveer Gurjar joined Saransh Jain. Both batters batted very smartly, and Saransh did well to farm the strike for long. For almost 15 overs, Saransh did well to make sure that he faces the first few balls of the over. In that he also brought up his half century. Just at the stroke of lunch though, Saransh failed to keep strike in the next over and Nabi knocked over Gurjar of the very first ball of the over. Lunch was called then. The equation at that point stood at 100 runs to win with 2 wickets in hand.

Aryan Pandey gave good support to Saransh Jain and the pair added 20 runs for the second last wicket. However, a corker from Nabi got rid of Saransh for 64. With that, Nabi bagged 5 wickets in the second innings as well. The last wicket added 23 runs and it seemed like we were in for a close finish, however, a peach from Yudhvir got the job done for J&K. The pick of the bowlers for the J&K side once again was Auqib Nabi with 5-70 next to his name. Abid Mushtaq too bowled well for his 3-49!
