Bangladesh held their nerve to hand Afghanistan a close eight-run defeat in a cliffhanger at Sheikh Zayed Stadium. With this win, the Litton Das-led side has climbed to the second place with four points, but the Tigers' group games are done. They don't have any more games left in Group B. All they can do now is pray for Afghanistan's loss against Sri Lanka. That will be a big game on Thursday (September 18). If Afghanistan win, they will advance to the Super 4s, with one of Sri Lanka and Bangladesh qualifying based on their net run rate. As of now, it is the Bangla Tigers who are having a negative net run rate!

We have a virtual knockout fixture coming up tomorrow, with Pakistan and UAE taking the field in a Group A clash. The winner will join India in the Super 4s.

For now, this is me, AkshayaKrishna Polya, signing off on behalf of my co-commentators, Pritam Dey and Akshay Bhide, who, alongside our scorer Zeeshan Naiyer and statistician Aman, brought you all the live action of this humdinger. We will meet again. Until then, it is cheers!
Litton Das (Bangladesh Captain): "Winning the game was a little bit of relief for us. We didn't bat well in the last 4-5 overs. We didn't bowl well in the middle overs. I know we had enough runs on the board because when I had a look at the wicket, I knew 160 would be a defendable score. But still I felt we were 15-20 runs short.

The way our bowlers bowled was phenomenal, especially Nasum, he played after a long time. He was showing his skills and Rishad too bowled well. The middle overs changed the game a little bit.

Both sides to be honest. We start well in both the innings. Today, Tamim batted really well. The partnership was very crucial. Similarly in the 2nd Innings, when Nasum took early wickets, pressure straightaway went onto the opposition side.

(Whether Bangladesh will be supporting Sri Lanka or not on Thursday) I don't know. Lets see (laughs)."
Rashid Khan (Afghanistan Captain): "I think we were in the game till the end. We were in the game until I got out. We just couldn't finish things off. 31 off 18 balls was definitely gettable.

We haven't played the type of cricket for which we are famous. We haven't played the attacking brand of cricket for which we are famous. We let ourselves get under pressure. The way we came back with the ball to restrict them under 160 was really special, but with the batting, we weren't at our best. To restrict them to under 160s, after they had 90 in the first 10 overs, was a huge job. I think it was a 160-170-run wicket; We played some irresponsible shots with the bat

It is the nature of T20 cricket. Sometimes, the opposition can take the game away from you in the powerplay, but it is how you come back.

There are a lot of learnings that we will take away from this game. See, every game is important in a tournament like this. Every game is important in the Asia Cup. We have to be fully prepared against Sri Lanka. We need to learn from our mistakes and be mentally strong. Definitely, it will be a big challenge for us."

When I went to bowl my first delivery, I was facing some issues gripping the ball was I was sweating. I adjusted quickly and started bowling cross seam. I enjoy these challenges."
