Milestone
That’s it from all of us for this game. It was pleasure bringing you all the updates. It’s time for us to take your leave. This is Akshay Bhide, signing off, on behalf of my co-commentator Ninaad Dixit, scorer Zeeshan Naiyer and statistician Aman. Until next time, cheers and good bye.
Muhammad Waseem (United Arab Emirates Captain): "First of all, thanks to dear Allah. As I said, past is past. We want to show to everyone how we want to play. And we showed it.

I'm very happy. We talked about it in the meeting and prepared in the last three days. We talked about playing more attacking in the powerplay and we did it in the nets.

(On getting 3000 T20I runs) It's a proud moment for me and my family and my country. I want to continue in the same way."
Jatinder Singh (Oman Captain): "Well, I believe the credit goes to the UAE batters, the way they started their innings. Alishan and Waseem had their plans and the way they finished their innings, 172 was good. I think we were on target but we lost wickets in clusters. We lack experience. But in the coming years, we will be in full throttle.

I believe the track was so placid. When we played in Abu Dhabi in the evenings, the ball comes nicely onto the bat. We knew we could get the target. But we lost wickets in the powerplay and it cost us.

I feel he (Siddique) bowled as per the plan. He bowled the slower one and I was a bit early into the shot. I miss and he hit (smiles)."
Alishan Sharafu (Player of the Match): "It was quite fun and it was an important game for us. It was a 4 PM start so the pitch was playing slow. We had to use the crease a little bit and that's what we tried today.

I try to make room and hit over covers or go as straight as I can. The plan was to accelerate in the powerplay and one of me or Waseem had to bat deep. Credit to the captain to stay there till the end."

9:08 PM IST, 7:38 PM Local Time: That’s it. United Arab Emirates (UAE) grab their first win of the Asia Cup 2025. After suffering a heavy defeat against India in their opening game, they bounce back by beating Oman by 42 runs today. Oman suffer their second straight loss in the competition and get knocked out of the competition. Meanwhile, India are through to the Super 4s!

Chasing a stiff target of 173, Oman got off to a disastrous start. They lost Aamir Kaleem (2), skipper Jatinder Singh (20), Wasim Ali (1) and Hammad Mirza (5) inside the powerplay. Faisal Shah (9) departed in the seventh over as Oman lost half of their side with only 50 on the board.

Aryan Bisht (24) and Vinayak Shukla (20) got into twenties but Oman kept losing wickets at regular intervals and they eventually got bundled out on 130 in 18.4 overs to lose the game by 42 runs. Junaid Siddique (4/23) was the pick of the bowlers for UAE. Haider Ali I (2/22) and Muhammad Jawadullah (2/18) also chipped in with two scalps each as they defended the total successfully.

In scorching heat, UAE were asked to bat first. Alishan Sharafu and skipper Muhammad Waseem gave them a solid start, scoring 50 inside the powerplay. Both put 88 between them before Sharafu (51) fell right after getting to his fifty.

Waseem held the innings nicely and scored a 54-ball 69 before departing in the final over. Cameos from Mohammad Zuhaib Khan (21 off 13) and Harshit Kaushik (19* off 8) powered UAE to 172/5. All the Oman bowlers, barring Jiten Ramanandi (2/24) and Shakeel Ahmed (0/16), were on the expensive side. The batters then faltered and fell short by 42 to lose two games in a row.

Stick around for the post-match presentation.
