Time for the post-match presentation!
6:29 PM IST and Local Time: A massive 105-run victory for the Hubli Tigers over the bottom-dwellers. Call it poetic justice or what - the Lions will finish at the bottom and the Tigers will end as the table-toppers for now.
Shivamogga asked Hubli to bat first on a track that was good for batting but aided the spinners.
Hubli had a great start thanks to some firepower from Devdutt Padikkal (33), who interestingly today was playing as an impact sub.
His opening partner Mohammed Taha led the team today.
However, Taha's poor form continued as he could muster only 8 runs from 15 balls. Everything was going well for Hubli until they lost a few wickets in quick-succession, thanks to Shivamogga's left-arm seamer Maribasava Gowda, who was playing his first game in this year's tournament. Gowda was the pick of the bowler for Shivamogga and ended his spell at 31/2.
Hubli were struggling at 71/3 after the end of 10 overs. However, Krishnan Shrijith and Abhinav Manohar had other plans and smashed Shivamogga bowlers. The duo stitched a 124-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Krishnan Shrijith scored 66* off 40 balls while Abhinav Manohar made 63* off 35 deliveries.
This was Manohar's first fifty of this year's tournament while second half-century for Shrijith. Their innings helped Hubli reach a strong total of 195/3.
In reply, Shivamogga struggled right from the first over of their innings and never looked comfortable in chasing down this taunting target. Their highest scorer of the game was Dhruv Prabhakar who scored 29 runs off 25 balls.
The Hubli spinners were all over the Shivamogga batters as nine wickets out of ten were taken by them.
Leggie Yash Raj Punja picked up three scalps while Shreesha Achar and KC Cariappa took two wickets each. Karthikeya KP and Ritesh Bhatkal also picked up a scalp each.
The Shivamogga got dismissed for 90 runs in 15.5 overs and lost the match by 105 runs. With this win, Hubli now sit at the top of the points table.
