12:10 AM IST and Local Time | Gulbarga Mystics played as a team and kept their nerves to seal the deal. Ravichandran Smaran is the star of the victory for his half-century. They did well to get over the line with two balls to go.
Mystics won the toss and sent the Hubli Tigers to bat first. Hubli Tigers lost their top three batters inside the powerplay. They lost Prakhar Chaturvedi, Mohammed Taha and Devdutt Padikkal cheaply. Basavaraj was going well and was playing sensibly but could score only run-a-ball 9.
Krishnan Shrijith and Shivkumar Rakshith were the architect of their innings reform. They registered a 56 run stand for the 5th wicket and out of those runs, Shivkumar scored 36 off 22 with 4 fours and 2 maximums. Shrijith was struggling till the 35th ball. He scored only 30 till then but changed the gears a bit and scored 52 off 45 balls before holing out to Praveen Dubey off Lavish Kaushal. Hubli Tigers could score 158/8 at the end of their 20 overs.
For the Gulbarga Mystics, Shashi Kumar Kamble and Lavish Kaushal took a couple of wickets each. Prithviraj Shekawat and Monish Reddy celebrated a wicket each.
Coming out to chase the 159-run target, the Mystics also suffered a bit. They lost Nikin Jose in the third ball of their innings and just a couple of overs later, KC Cariappa got the big wickets of KV Siddharth and Luvnith Sisodia. But Smaran Ravichandran and Prajwal Pavan had some other ideas.
Pavan took the aggressor's role as he was timing the ball better and Smaran decided to hold back and play the anchor's role. Their 71-run stand helped their side to come back in the game. Pavan got out on 37 from 28 balls with 2 fours and 3 sixes. Then the Mystics sent Bangalore Anand Mohith as an impact sub. Smaran became well set by then and he started hitting boundaries in almost every over. His boundary hitting coupled with regular strike rotations propelled his team towards victory. Mohith struggled against the spinners though. Smaran reached to his fifty and he got out on 52 off 39 balls with 3 sixes and a four.
BA Mohith decided to take the attack on the pacers. He hit Manvanth Kumar for two back to back maximums in the 17th over when the asking rate was hovering around 10 runs per over. Mohith remained unbeaten on 26 till the end. In the final over, Yash Punja came to bowl and Praveen Dubey hit him for a maximum but Punja knocked over his off stump next ball. But Vijaykumar kept his nerves and took his team home.
