That's all that we have for the coverage of the match between Mangaluru Dragons and Hubli Tigers!
This is me, Arjun Bhalla, signing off on behalf of Mohammad Anab and Utsav, alongside scorer/analyst Yogesh Kumar. BYE, CHEERS!
Shreyas Gopal (Mangaluru Dragons): "Its been great so far. Splendid performance from both bat and ball. There was some grip for the bowlers and but the pitch got better and we had to really nail our yorkers today.
The wickets got so good in the second half that 5 or 10 runs would have made a massive difference.
I wanted to take him on. Taha has scored back to back hundred so I wanted to take him head on. If I would get his wicket then the next batters haven't batted as much. So it was a gamble that paid off."
Player of the match: Kranthi Kumar
Time for post match presentation!
11:47 PM IST and Local Time: Hubli Tigers have failed to chase down a target, losing their first game of the Maharaja T20 Trophy 2025. Meanwhile, the Mangaluru Dragons have won their third game this season.
Skipper Devdutt Padikkal and Prakhar Chaturvedi laid a solid foundation in the chase for the Tigers. After losing Mohammed Taha in the first over, DDP and Chaturvedi added 65 runs between them inside the powerplay. But Hubli lost Chaturvedi on the final ball of the powerplay.
Captain DDP continued smashing the Mangaluru bowlers, but he failed to get ample support from the other end. On the other hand, DDP's opposite number- Shreyas Gopal- operated marvellously, taking key wickets.
After Padikkal's dismissal on 60, Abhinav Manohar and Manvanth Kumar stitched a fine stand in the death overs. However, Manohar's departure in the penultimate over turned the game in Mangaluru's favour. Eventually, the Dragons defended the target by 16 runs.
For Mangaluru Dragons, Shreyas Gopal and Shreevathsa Acharya snapped two wickets each, but the showstopper was Kranthi Kumar, who snapped four wickets.
Earlier in the evening, Macneil Hadley Noronha and Aneesh KV scored fifties, respectively. In the process, they added 107 runs between them. However, it was Kranthi Kumar's 30* off 9 that pushed MD's innings to an emphatic total of 195/5.

1 Mangaluru win by 16 runs. A wonderful victory for them because at one point, it seemed that Hubli Tigers will chase down this 196 run target much before 20 overs. Around the wicket. Full. Angled in to the stumps. The tailender simply drives it to long off for a single. A brilliant spell from Kranthi Kumar. First defeat in this year's tournament for Hubli Tigers. Their coach and former India pacer Vinay Kumar will definitely go back to the drawing boards after this loss.
