We wrap up here! Deepak Prakash signing off on behalf of Darpan Tikiya and Bishal Mandal. Don’t go anywhere — just switch tabs and catch all the action from the UP T20 League Eliminator, about to begin in a few minutes.
Atal Bihari Rai (POTM): "We had already planned for this situation. We knew that Rinku bhai usually takes the game deep, so the idea was to mix things up against him and not be predictable when he came in to bat.

Our batters had already set a target knowing the wicket was on the slower side, and we felt that the longer the game went, the slower it would get. So we were aware that if we managed to contain them during the powerplay, the game would remain in our control."
Player of the Match: Atal Bihari Rai
Karan Sharma (Kashi Rudras Captain): "I just felt the wicket was a bit difficult and that it would get slower as the game progressed. For us, the main thing was to keep the boundary balls to a minimum and force them to take risks. So we kept the plan very simple and focused on execution. We had planned this over the last one or two days, and the idea was to stick to that and execute it properly.

As we saw in the first innings too, after the powerplay, the wicket slowed down a bit. It was turning as well, and some balls were staying low. That’s why I felt the middle overs would be very important, and using spinners in that phase was crucial.

There wasn’t any special plan, but looking at how the wicket behaved, I had said that the more we bowled slower balls — on the pads, outside off, and mixing in a yorker or two — the better it would be. So it was a normal plan, but hats off to the bowlers for executing it so well. That was a pressure situation, especially against a batter everyone knows can finish the game anytime. But they backed themselves, stayed calm, and focused on execution."
Time for the post-match presentation....
Rinku Singh (Meerut Mavericks Captain): "We didn’t bat well during the middle phase and kept losing wickets at regular intervals. I tried to go after every ball towards the end, but luck just wasn’t on our side today. This was my last game before I leave for the Asia Cup, but I just want to tell my team to keep playing with intent."
6:57 PM IST, Local Time: Kashi Rudras win the last-ball thriller and storm into the grand finale of Uttar Pradesh Premier League 2025. The match swung too and fro like a pendulum, but Shivam Mavi held his nerve in the final over, taking his side over the line.

Earlier, after opting to bat first, Abhishek Goswami (27) and Karan Sharma (43) provided a rollicking start to Kashi Rudras, scoring rapidly from the outset. Just when they seemed to be taking control, Vishal Chaudhary shifted the momentum for Meerut Mavericks, striking thrice in quick succession to finish with impressive figures of 3/28 from his 4 overs. Uvais Ahmad, batting at number three, looked fluent during his 28 off 17, but his stay too was cut short by Vishal.

The bowlers kept the pressure intact, denying the batters any scoring freedom and reaping rewards with wickets at regular intervals. Shubham Chaubey (1), Bhavy Goyal (5), and Yashovardhan Singh (13) all fell cheaply. Saksham Rai (22) took his time to settle on the crease but departed at the crucial juncture of the game, falling prey to Zeeshan in the 18th over.

Shiva Singh (12*) and Kartik Yadav (6*) added crucial runs in the final over and propelled the score to 166 runs in 20 overs.

Vishal Chaudhary and Zeeshan Ansari wreaked havoc with the ball for the Mavericks, claiming 3 wickets each, while Rinku Singh bagged one wicket for just 13 runs in his 2 overs.

In response, Meerut Mavericks lost Akshay Dubey for a mere one run in the opening over of the chase, with Sunil Kumar drawing first blood for the Rudras. Swastik Chikara and Rituraj Sharma then steadied the innings, keeping the scoreboard ticking at a steady—albeit slower—pace before shifting gears as the partnership developed.

The pair put on a partnership of over 70 runs, but just as Chikara seemed to be finding his rhythm, he was run out for 25, halting his progress. Rituraj notched up his fifty but failed to bat till the end and departed for 65 runs off 38 balls.

After the dismissal of both set batters, Meerut Mavericks kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Rinku Singh fought hard, bringing the equation down to 10 needed from 3 balls, but Shivam Mavi held his nerve, trapping him for 40 on the fourth delivery. Zeeshan Ansari struck a boundary off the penultimate ball to take the game to the last delivery, but Mavi nailed a clever slower yorker to outfox Zeeshan and seal a thrilling 5-run win for his side.

Shivam Mavi bagged a couple of wickets for Rudras, while Sunil Kumar, Atal Bihari Rai, Shiva Singh, and Karan Sharma chipped in with one wicket each.

Stay tuned for the presentation.....
