Time to wrap up this coverage, folks! For now, it's me Deepak Prakash signing off on behalf of scorer/analyst Raju Khariya. CHEERS!
Chris Gayle (West Indies Champions Captain): "You know, the fast bowlers bowled really well. I was very excited to pick up early wickets as well. But I have to give kudos to Chadwick—he batted really well. I thought the guys coming in later were aiming to take us to 200. But cricket is a funny game, and England came back very well in the backend. They bowled brilliantly and restricted us to 160.

I said to them, 'No short ball. No bouncers.' (laughs). We did bowl well, we did bowl well. Like I said, we just tried to utilize the conditions as early as possible and pick up some wickets. You know, getting two or three wickets in the first over really put England on the back foot. But credit to Samit—he batted really well and gave his team a chance to win the game. So, like I said, we're happy with the win. We really needed this.

Absolutely. I think we deserved it. You know, we needed those two points. Like I mentioned, that South Africa game could have gone either way. So to actually get two points against England is fantastic. Now we come back here tomorrow against Australia—hopefully we can pick up another two. We know the conditions now, so we know what to expect."
Eoin Morgan (England Champions Captain): "Yeah, I think we did well to get close at the end. The West Indies played really, really well. The key difference between the sides was probably the powerplay—not necessarily the wickets we lost, but our inability to find a way to score during that phase. That really set the West Indies up for the middle and later stages, even though we came back strongly towards the end.

Ajmal Shahzad, playing his first game, was outstanding with the ball, so there are definitely positives to take from today. It ended up being closer than we might have expected, which could mask a few of our shortcomings.

But full credit to the West Indies—on a green wicket, after losing the toss, they batted and bowled really well. Taking those early wickets in the powerplay was probably the decisive factor in the game.

Yeah, it was him (Fidel Edwards) and Sheldon Cottrell—both were getting the ball to move around for quite a while. We probably expected the ball to stop swinging after some time so we could establish partnerships, but fair play to them; they kept that momentum going through the middle phase. Ravi Bopara and Samit Patel—Samit played really well for his half-century—but in the end, it was just a little too much to chase.

You can put in a lot of hard work and sometimes not get the results. We've been close in two of the three games. Thursday's game is a big one, and then Sunday’s match against India is even bigger. So, we’ll need to turn things around quickly. Hopefully we can, and we’re looking forward to the weekend."
Chadwick Walton (POTM): "It’s definitely a batter’s game, and fortunately for me today, I came out and delivered. I mean, it was a bit tough up front, and Chris was just telling us, 'Keep it together, and we'll get an opportunity to score.' Definitely. It's great to have an early win in the tournament so you can build some momentum going into the battle."

Time for the post-match presentation.....
8:39 PM IST, 4:09 PM Local Time: A brilliant bowling display from the West Indies Champions helped them outclass the England Champions by 10 runs, securing their first win of the tournament after narrowly losing a thrilling contest decided by a bowl-out in their opening match. On the other hand, England Champions have lost two games in a row

Earlier, after being invited to bat first on a green top surface, West Indies lost Dwayne Smith (0) and Lendl Simmons (4) cheaply. Chris Gayle took his time to settle on the crease but failed to capitalise and departed for 21 runs off 19 balls, leaving his side reeling at 63/3 in 9 overs.

Chadwick Walton looked in sublime form from the outset, keeping the scoreboard ticking at a decent pace. He brought up his fifty and added a valuable 80-run partnership for the fifth wicket with Pollard (30), before falling for a well-made 83.

However, West Indies lost wickets in clusters during the death overs, managing only 31 runs and losing 5 wickets in the last five overs. As a result, they were restricted to below 170 runs.

The bowling unit of the opposition shared the spoils, with Stuart Meaker being the pick of the bowlers, claiming 4 wickets for 24 runs in his full quota. Ajmal Shahzad was extremely economical and effective, taking 3 wickets for just 8 runs in 4 overs. Ryan Sidebottom picked up the early wicket of Dwayne Smith.

In reply, England got off to a shaky start as Fidel Edwards ripped through the top order with four early strikes, dismissing Sir Alastair Cook (0) and Moeen Ali (0) on the first two balls of the innings, followed by Eoin Morgan (9) and Ian Bell (5) in his next two overs.

However, Ravi Bopara and Samit Patel stitched together a crucial 40-run partnership for the fifth wicket, steadying the innings and briefly reviving hopes of a comeback. Samit played a counter-attacking knock of 52 off 36 balls, while Bopara chipped in with a steady 24.

Despite their efforts, wickets in clusters hurt England's momentum, and they were folded for 154 in their 20 overs. Bopara (24), Samit Patel (52), Tim Ambrose (18), and Liam Plunkett (12*) were the only batters to score in double digits for the hosts.

Fidel Edwards was the pick of the bowlers, returning outstanding figures of 4/11 from his 3 overs, dismantling the top order, and setting the tone for West Indies' disciplined bowling performance. Shannon Gabriel and Dwayne Bravo bagged a couple of wickets each, while Sulieman Benn contributed one wicket to the downfall.

Stay tuned for the presentation.....
