Milestone
Hyderabad continue to stride in the right direction. Remember, it was not too long ago that they were relegated to the Plate division. However, after a couple of impressive wins in the last season, they have hit the ground running in 2025-26. They held Delhi for a draw, should have won by an innings against Pudducherry if not for rain and have now completed their highest 4th innings chase ever to beat Himachal Pradesh and get to the top of the points table alongside Mumbai.

Can they continue the good work? They play Rajasthan at home next, while Himachal Pradesh will lock horns with Mumbai at the Sharad Pawar Academy in BKC. Both those matches will begin on Saturday, November 8.

We hope you enjoyed the coverage for this match. Feel free to scroll below and read through the summary of the match. This is Darpan Tikiya signing off on the behalf of Anirudh Modi, Saptak Sanyal and Asraj Khan. See you soon.

4:22 PM IST, local time: Hyderabad gun down 344 on the final day to register a memorable win. With this, they now join Mumbai at the apex of the Group D points table.

The protagonist of this fable was Abhirath Reddy, who not only scored a spectacular maiden first-class century, but also ensured that he remained not out and took the team beyond the finish line. The season had not begun on the right note for the 29-year-old. Despite getting starts in each of his first three innings, he had failed to convert them into scores of substance. Even here in Amtar, he was dismissed off the 8th ball he faced in the first innings.

However, on day 4, up against a stiff climb of 344, he brought out his absolute best. His start was watchful yet sturdy. After losing his opening partner Tanmay Agrawal early in the run chase, he stitched a solid partnership of 145 with wicket-keeper Rahul Radesh that laid the foundation. Then, he switched gears in enthralling fashion in the afternoon session to ensure that Hyderabad could actually look for victory.

They were assisted by Himachal Pradesh's defensive mindset. Even with plenty of runs in the bank, skipper Ankur Bains spread the field out and was even hesitant to attack new batters. Yes, the wicket was good for batting. However, it seemed as if HP did not bowl to take wickets for the most part. The ones that Hyderabad lost were only due to unforced errors made by their batters. Interestingly, the bowler who delivered the most overs was the man who wasn't even a part of the XI originally. Aryaman Singh, who came in as a concussion substitute for Akash Vasisht, picked 3/91 off his 20 overs.

Earlier, the hosts had scored 318 in the first innings after winning the toss and electing to bat first. In testing conditions on the first morning, they had made a circumspect and sedate start before losing the plot in the middle. However, a splendid century from Vasisht lower down the order ensured that they had enough runs on the board. Then, led by their troika of seamers, they bundled the visiting team for 278 and took the first innings lead. CV Milind, who scored a pugnacious 98 at no. 8, was the star for Hyderabad.

Vasisht scored another century in the second innings and, along with Ekanth Sen's half-century, helped post a steep target for the opposition. Alas, it did not prove to be enough.

With the ball, off spinner Rohit Rayudu and debutant Tanay Thyagarajan — who also made handy contributions with the bat in both the innings — were the standout performers. Milind too impressed with a 3fer in the second innings.

And it is only fitting that Abhirath scores the winning runs. A thunderous roar from the dugout follows. It is a century that he might be telling his grandkids about one day.
