12:03 PM IST, Local Time: Lunch, Day 1 | Himachal Pradesh and Hyderabad came neck to neck with slit knives in the morning session on Day 1 at Amtar. The session started with HP adding over 50 runs for no loss of wickets, but an inspiring spell from Hyderabadi bowlers had the home team on their toes, only till a third-wicket stand took Himachal to Lunch with just two wickets down.
Captain Ankush Bhains won the toss and elected to bat first. He walked the talk along with Sidhant Purohit, as the duo ruled the show in the first half of the session.
The openers were decent enough in leaving the deliveries bowled in the channel, and were brilliantly well in rotating the strike. The two batters didn't shy from spanking the bad balls to the fence. The two shared a 53-run opening stand between them, but only for Hyderabad's Tanay Thyagarajan to break it.
Thyagarajan bowled a beauty to the opposition skipper, who went to play for the play, but the arm ball straightened after pitching and Bhains was bowled on 30.
From the other end, Saranu Nishanth doubled his pace and kept on questioning Purohit and Ankit Kalsi. The duo could fight out the challenge for 16 balls, as the paceman removed the left-handed Kalsi with an incoming delivery.
Nishanth, Thyagarajan, and B Punnaiah got their tails up. They were near death, almost tearing apart by the Himachal batters; however, Purohit and Pukhraj Mann were no less.
The left-hand combination worked like a charm for HP as the two dropped their anchor during their 38*-run stand coming in 100 balls.
Stay put as the second session will start in 35 minutes...

4 FOURRR!!! An elegant cover-drive from Pukhraj Mann, and that would bring Lunch on Day 1. Pitched too full outside the off-stump. A half-volley of all sorts. Mann strides forward and then crunches it through covers for a boundary.
35.5 C Milind to P Mann
0 Back of a length, angled in, on off-pole. Mann stands behind it and then fends it.
35.4 C Milind to P Mann
0 Bouncer attacking the batter's head. Angled in, on the off-stump. Mann watches the ball till the last as he leaves it brilliantly.
35.3 C Milind to P Mann
0 Another calculative leave from Pukhraj. Digs short and angled in from wide of off. The batter arches low and lets it whistle past his chest.
35.2 C Milind to P Mann
0 Pitched full and wide in the channel. Mann strides forward and leaves it.
35.1 C Milind to P Mann
2 Over the wicket. Good length delivery just outside the off-stump. Mann stands tall to it and punches to the man at sweeper cover for a couple of runs.
