That's all from Day 2 of this contest between Saurashtra and Karnataka from Niranjan Shah Stadium, Khandheri, Rajkot. For now, it's me, Deepak Prakash, signing off on behalf of my colleagues Akshay Bhide, Danish Elahi, and Ghanendra Singh Thakur. CHEERS!
Session Breakdown (Day 2):

Session 1: 34.3 overs, 93 runs, 5 wickets

Session 2:  31 overs, 121 runs, 0 wickets

Session 3:  22 overs,  63 runs, 4 wickets
4:32 PM IST: End of an eventful second day, and Karnataka staged a strong comeback in the evening session. After toiling hard to break the opening stand, the visitors hit back with four wickets in the final session, finishing the day on a high and slightly ahead in the contest. Saurashtra are 200/4 after 60 overs, trailing by 172 runs.

Karnataka began the morning session on a shaky note as their overnight batters, Smaran Ravichandran (77) and Shreyas Gopal (56), couldn’t add much to their scores and departed early. Dharmendrasinh Jadeja was the star for Saurashtra, striking thrice in quick succession, including the prized wicket of Ravichandran, while Jaydev Unadkat dismissed Gopal to put the visitors on the back foot. However, a resilient last-wicket stand between Shikhar Shetty (41 off 57) and Abhilash Shetty (2* off 54) frustrated the hosts, adding 47 crucial runs to take Karnataka to 372 before Sammar Gajjar ended the innings.

However, Karnataka staged a strong comeback in the evening session. The visitors finally broke the opening stand worth 140 runs. The hosts lost four wickets in quick succession, with Shreyas Gopal leading the charge and picking up three wickets. Desai departed for 41, while Jani fell 10 short of a well-deserved century. The concussion substitute Jay Gohil (3) departed cheaply, and he was soon followed by Ansh Gosai (19), as Karnataka tightened their grip late in the day.

At stumps on Day 2, Saurashtra reached 200/4 in 60 overs, still trailing by 172 runs. Arpit Vasavada (12)* and Ansh Gosai (20)* held firm to see off the remaining overs. The contest remains delicately poised heading into Day 3, with Karnataka slightly ahead courtesy of their late burst.
