Milestone
It was a day full of highs and lows for Assam, but Gujarat's openers were the real showstoppers of the day. Just like Sibsankar Roy, the two Desais will look to notch their respective centuries in their first outings of the season. Will that unfold for Aarya and Abhishek? Do join our coverage of the third day to find out. See you tomorrow sharp at 8:30 AM (Local Time). And stay tuned at CREX for all updates from across the globe.

This is Arjun Bhalla, signing off on behalf of my colleagues Mohammad Anab, Manan Mehta, Darpan Tikiya and Ghanendra Singh Thakur

Session 3: Overs - 28, Runs - 100, Wickets - 0
5:03 PM IST, Local Time: Stumps, Day 2 | A day where Gujarat controlled the majority of play, and now they get back to their dressing room, sitting on the box seat. The two openers - Aarya Desai and Abhishek Desai - have stamped their authority and reduced Gujarat's trail to 144 runs.

The two Desais batted across two sessions and had an unbeaten opening stand of 166 runs, posting their respective half-centuries.

However, earlier in the day, Assam's Sibsankar Roy went from their overnight score of 33 to a big figure mark. With the help of Akash Sengupta and Rahul Singh, he went on to smash a century in the first game of the Ranji Trophy season. Additionally, he took Assam's total to 310 runs. However, Gujarat spinners, Vishal Jayswal, in particular, were the best of the pack.

After Gujarat came into bat, the two Desais just took over. Apart from some close shaves against Mukhtar Hussain, no other bowler could have raised serious questions against the two Gujarat openers. Riyan Parag, in phases, was able to put brakes on the run-flow, but again he too went wicketless despite being very economical.

At the end of Day 2, Gujarat are at 166 for zero, with Aarya Desai batting on 79* and Abhishek Desai at 80*, but they are still 144 runs behind Assam's first innings score.

43.6 Sengupta to A Desai
1 Back of length around off. Much closer to the batter's body who goes on back foot and then punches it towards deep point for a solo. He punches it with a soft bottom hand to make sure that the ball doesn't go aerial at all. End of the day's play. Gujarat ensure that they don't lose a single wicket on Day 2 and are at a very position. The two Desais have taken their tea to 166/0 after 44 overs.
43.5 Sengupta to A Desai
0 Right arm around now. Back of length delivery but way outside off. Abhishek leaves that one alone. Sengupta misses his line on this occasion.
43.4 Sengupta to A Desai
0 Bouncer. Well-directed one. However, the slowness of the pitch gives ample time to the batter to duck it with ease.
43.3 Sengupta to A Desai
0 Short-pitched again. On to the batter's body. He ducks that one on time to let it go through to the keeper.
43.2 Sengupta to A Desai
0 Short-pitched delivery. Ball angling across the batter who decides to let that one go.
