Bryce Parsons (Player of the Match): "Needed this. Been a tricky comp, to do it on a day like this, means a lot. Just work hard in the nets. I have always been in and out of the team. There is always a chance of playing, luckily I got it.
I have played a lot of cricket here. Knew it would be slow. Dewald (Brevis) makes batting in a partnership quite easy. It was all about keeping the dot balls low and the asking rate wasn't an issue. I always ask for the ball. I am an all-rounder, I would say. If Lungi didn't pull up, I would have probably not bowled. That is how cricket works I suppose."
Bryce Parsons has been named as the 'Player of the Match'.
Keshav Maharaj (Pretoria Capitals Captain): "Very happy, I could not have asked for a more clinical performance, especially with the bat on a pretty tricky wicket. It's about executing our basics well. We started slowly with the ball, made our way back, and finished well. Bryce was excellent with the ball, and we knew what he could do with the bat if he was in for 50 balls.
I wanted to get Bryce on to bowl. When I saw him in his rhythm in the first over, I decided to bowl him well. Lungi is okay, but I didn't want to take a risk with a crucial bowler for us. It was better to take a precaution.
The clarity and information given to us have been sublime. We knew these guys could perform well, and for them to do it in a crucial Qualifier, could not have asked for more."
Time for the post-match presentation ceremony..
Tristan Stubbs (Sunrisers Eastern Cape):"Started well with the bat but lost momentum after that. Bryce and Dewald batted well. We lost momentum in the batting innings, lost wickets at a crucial time. They batted beautifully tonight. This is a ground, if you are in, you can really take on the opposition. We did everything to take a wicket but they had a counter to that. I don't need to say much. Don't need more motivation than a chance to get to the final. We will be ready for the Qualifier 2."
12:36 AM IST, 9:06 PM Local Time | A hat-trick of MAXIMUMs to send Pretoria Capitals to the Final of SA20 2025-26! Pretoria are back after 3 years! Sunrisers Eastern Cape will get a second bite of the cherry in the second qualifier! But for now, Pretoria can begin to celebrate! They win by 7 wickets to book their ticket!
Sunrisers Eastern Cape won the toss and elected to bat first! They started well with Jonny Bairstow (50) and Jordan Hermann (41) laying down a good platform for the men in orange. However, the Pretoria bowling attack led by Bryce Parsons' magical 3/10 from 3 overs restricted Sunrisers to a total of 170/7 at the end of their 20 overs.
It was only thanks to Coles' last over shenanigans to score 17 off 4 that helped SEC set a competitive total. Keshav Maharaj registered 2/24 from 4 overs, and Lungi Ngidi picked up a solitary wicket to help the cause.
Come the chase, Pretoria Capitals got off to a wobbly start, losing Shai Hope (11) early at the end of the second over. Connor Esterhuizen played a handy knock of 22 to stabilize the ship. Green sent Esterhuizen back in the 8th over, but that was the last time Sunrisers would have felt in the game.
Dewald Brevis and Bryce Parsons struck a match-winning partnership of 91 runs for the third wicket to break the back of this chase. Bryce Parsons could not stay until the end as Nortje ended his knock at 60 runs off 44 balls. But with 18 runs needed off 12 balls, Dewald Brevis decided to channel his inner ABD and struck 3 consecutive sixes to send Pretoria into ecstasy!
Anrich Nortje, Lewis Gregory, and Chris Green picked up a solitary wicket each but despite there best efforts, Pretoria cruised to a comfortable victory in the end with 9 balls to spare.
