A thumping win for Pretoria Capitals at home as they brushed aside MI Cape Town to go to the top of the table, winning by 53 runs. Sherfane Rutherford with the bat and Gideon Peters with the ball were the standout performers for the hosts.

That’s all we have for you from this game. I’m Ajay Pal Singh, signing off on behalf of my colleague Ghanendra Singh Thakur. Goodbye.

Sherfane Rutherford (POTM): I want to thank god for being given the opportunity to play in the SA20. I just trust my process, just give myself the best chance of getting in and then going about with the process.

It was very important to run singles, get myself in, give myself the best chance. Once the seamers came on, I could trust my skills and put them under pressure. I think it worked for us.

It is important to read the game in cricket. Last year was tough for me. I just backed my ability - the important thing is to be in the situation, sometimes you think you can take the game on, but you need to swallow your ego and think what your team needs at that moment. That's exactly what I was thinking about.

I was thinking about 180, but he (Dewald Brevis) just told me not to think about it and wanted us to just take it as it comes and keep batting."
Player of the Match: Sherfane Rutherford
Keshav Maharaj (Pretoria Capitals Captain): "Yeah, very happy. I think, disappointing start to our home leg. Nice to get back to winning ways and an emphatic win to put us on top of the table.

Yeah, at one stage. 150 looked a bit far away. Credit to Sherfane, Brevis and Russell. We knew if we can give them the platform, we had the firepower. They executed really well. Sherfane was hitting the ball really well, he has been in fine form. The feedback was to hold those hard lengths, and my seamers did that well and got rewards.

Yeah, it seemed far away. We were happy to get to 160, the way the guys were hitting the ball, they gave us that buffer. Variable bounce was always going to make it tough. MI were in the game but once we got those early wickets, we knew we were ahead in the game.

Yeah, it has been a crucial 2 weeks for us. We started the tournament slowly. One thing we have done well since last week is do the basics right.

We wanted to bowl first today, but we weren't opposed to the idea of batting first. We knew the wicket could be a bit spotty. We said this ahead of the game that whatever we do today, we have to do it well and that's what we did today."
Dispatch of the Day: Sherfane Rutherford (106m maximum)
Most Dot balls in the Match: Lungi Ngidi (15 Dots)

Most Sixes in the Match: Sherfane Rutherford
Rashid Khan (MI Cape Town Captain): "Well, I think the way we started with the ball. I feel we should have restricted them to under 160. But that's where we have struggled throughout this tournament in the death. We have given away so many runs. When you do that, you don't get momentum for the next innings.

A bit of both. We bowled some good deliveries and then you are bowling... I think it also comes to catching as well. When you drop catches, it gives the momentum to the opposition. We were a little bit lacking with our executions. I think we haven't bowled according to our field, especially to Rutherford.

In T20, it doesn't work. Everyone is a professional and giving it their all. It was just one of those days, where we try to do different things but doesn't go our way. I feel last 2 games are important and we will take one game at a time.

I think in the last 5 games, we had that in our mind that we need to 4 out of 5. That will put us on a good stage. We have lost last 2 games, but we can win a game with bonus points, finishing with 20 points, anything can happen.

We are playing same opposition, Sunrisers, I will wake up my time and hopefully, they can do the job for us."
