This was not a win built on fireworks. It was built on faith. On bowling to plans. On trusting conditions. The Capitals showed that 138 can be defended if every dot ball is celebrated like a boundary. For the Royals, it’s a reminder - adapt or perish. For the Capitals, it’s a statement win. Same game. Same rules. Different mindset.
Until then, I am Dev Rajawat, signing off, along with my co-commentator, Deepak Prakash, and scorer Zeeshan Naiyer. That’s it from our side. Thanks for joining. But cricket doesn’t sleep. Plenty is happening around the world. Switch tabs, follow the fun. Goodbye from this tab! TAKE CARE! BREATHE AND SMILE! CIAO!
Sherfane Rutherford (Player of the Match): "First of all, I want to thank God for this beautiful opportunity to be playing here in South Africa. It was definitely a tough wicket to bat on. From the inside, you could tell it wasn’t easy to come in and start hitting straight away. For me, the key was just trying to take the innings as deep as possible. I knew that if I could spend time out there, I would give myself the best chance to cash in at the end, and thankfully, that worked and helped us put a good score on the board.
Having played on similar wickets in places like India and the Caribbean really helps in situations like this. Those conditions teach you patience. You learn the importance of spending time at the crease and battling through the tough phases. On wickets like these, once you give yourself that chance and get through the difficult period, anything can happen in the back end, and that’s when you can really make an impact.
As far as bowling is concerned, I’m definitely not disappointed. I know my role, and at the moment, my main focus is contributing with the bat. As long as I’m scoring runs and the team is winning, that’s what matters most to me. Individual roles can change from game to game, but team success always comes first.
It was great to be out there and contribute, and I’m really happy with the way the game went today."

Keshav Maharaj (Pretoria Capitals Captain): "It was really important for us to get over the line. With the total we had on the board, we always knew we were still in the contest. The conditions were going to play a role, and full credit to the bowlers and the fielders for the way they went about their work. The discipline, the energy, and the execution were outstanding.
Batting out there wasn’t easy at all. Getting the ball off the square was tough, which made Sherfane’s contribution even more valuable. He’s been a huge asset for our batting unit, especially coming in down the order and finding ways to push us to competitive totals. He’s worked incredibly hard, we all know the quality he brings, and performances like this just reinforce his importance to the side.
With only 138 on the board, building pressure from ball one was absolutely crucial. We knew we had to take wickets early, and Lungi really set the tone with his opening spell. From there, everyone who was called upon stepped up, put their hand up, and contributed. It was a proper team bowling effort.
On a personal note, it’s always nice to bowl away from Pretoria because that’s probably one of the toughest places to bowl. But more than anything, I’m just happy to be contributing when it matters and helping the team get over the line. We’re in a good position on the table, playing some solid cricket, and hopefully we can keep this momentum going."

Time for the Post-Match Presentations...
David Miller (Paarl Royals Captain): "Yeah, look, in close games you can look at a lot of different things. I can’t really reflect fully right now, but I thought they batted really well. Rutherford, in particular, finished brilliantly and put us under pressure. Losing three wickets in a six or seven-over period really set us back. The pitch looked good initially, but it was definitely on the slower side and just got slower as the day went on. I thought our bowlers did really well and controlled things for most of the innings. Even in the last four or five overs, I still felt it was a strong bowling performance. These games can be looked at from different angles — batting and bowling — but at the moment, it feels like we’ve just fallen short. It is a challenge batting on a surface like this because it keeps getting slower. You have to get into good positions, rotate the strike, and limit dot balls. We’ve done a lot of things well this season. Losing is tough, but it’s part of the game. We’re heading into the business end, we still have a game in hand, and we’re in a good position. We’ll learn from this and move on to the next one."
