That’s all we have for you from Gqeberha. It’s back-to-back wins for the Sunrisers Eastern Cape, both coming with bonus points, as they sit comfortably at the top of the points table. On the other hand, it’s been a disappointing start to the season for the Pretoria Capitals, who will need to go back to the drawing board and address several areas quickly.

For now, this is Pritam Dey signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Darpan Tikiya who, along with scorer/analyst Raju Khariya brought all the actions of this clash. Stay tuned for more cricketing action from around the world. BYE BYEšŸ‘‹
Quinton de Kock (Player of the Match): "It was pretty busy to be honest. The crowd was loud. It was nice to be on their side, I am used to playing against them. Initially there was a bit on the ball. I tried to stand still and pick the right options. It was a bit slow at times too. So, it was not easy to time it. So, it was about taking some time.

(On the partnership with Breetzke) It was cool. He came in and took some pressure off. I think we batted well together. Unfortunate that we could not carry on.

(On keeping to Nortje, Jansen and Milne) It was pretty cool. Nice to have so many bowling options. I think it was hard for them (Capitals) up front. The ball came on nicely. The wicket got a bit harder to bat on."
Player of the Match: Quinton de Kock.
Tristan Stubbs (Sunrisers Eastern Cape Captain): "We will take this start to the new season with both hands.

(On the batting performance) I think the way Quinny (QDK) and Breetzke batted today was simply brilliant. They summed up the conditions and they played beautifully. They complimented each other in the partnership and it was beautiful to watch.

I think the way they batted, they took the right options and they were very clear. The batting was awesome. It got a bit difficult for us towards the end. With the ball, they came out hard at us early but we stuck to our guns and it came out well at the end.

The chat at the halfway stage was really positive. That was a really good score over here. We knew that we had to start well. The boys bowled brilliantly in the middle phase.

I think in order to need assistance, I go to somebody who knows the game pretty well and that's Quinton de Kock. I had a lot of chat with him today. Some of the senior guys were great too. The guys did magnificently well."
12:38 AM IST & 9:08 PM Local Time: Time for the Post-Match Presentation!
Keshav Maharaj (Pretoria Capitals captain): "Obviously there were two sides of the wicket and two lengths, but we could not find the right lengths. Not the best performance from us here. We need to go back to the drawing board.

We still had the belief that if we got 60 runs off the powerplay, we were in it. But we lost wickets in between and at St. George's Park, when the (required) run rate goes over 10/over, it becomes difficult.

We want to give some guys a consistent run. Of course, we are missing Andre Russell, who is yet to join us. But that is no excuse. It is a quick turnaround, we have a game on Wednesday. If each of us takes care of our own skillset, we will be on our way."

12:23 AM IST & 8:53 PM Local Time: That’s it from St George’s Park! It’s been yet another commanding performance from the Sunrisers Eastern Cape. The Men in Orange have bundled out their opponents in back-to-back games, continuing their dominant run in the tournament. The fans are buzzing in the stands as their side not only register a convincing 48-run victory but also clinch the all-important bonus point.

Earlier in the day, Tristan Stubbs won the toss and opted to bat first. Despite losing Jonny Bairstow early, Quinton de Kock and Matthew Breetzke came together to stitch a crucial partnership and set a strong platform for their side. It was a belter of a wicket in Gqeberha and the duo made full use of it, adding 116 runs off just 70 balls. The Capitals were sloppy in the field, putting down a few chances and those missed opportunities eventually came back to haunt them in the game.

Bryce Parsons made an immediate impact in his first over, picking up the key wicket of Quinton de Kock, who departed after a superb 77 off 47 balls. Matthew Breetzke fell soon after for 52, as both set batters were dismissed in quick succession, giving the Capitals a brief opening. Jordan Hermann then played a fine and timely hand, scoring 37 off 20 balls to keep the momentum going. His knock ensured the Sunrisers finished with a strong 188/6 from their 20 overs, although credit must go to the Capitals for bowling remarkably well in the death overs.

In reply, Marco Jansen struck early in the very first over of the chase, removing Bryce Parsons for just 1 to put the Capitals on the back foot. Shai Hope looked in fine touch and played some glorious strokes, but he eventually fell in the final over of the powerplay, as Adam Milne outfoxed him with the back-of-the-hand slower ball to dismiss him for 36 off 19 balls. Will Smeed also looked well set and comfortable at the crease, but he couldn’t go on to convert it into a big innings, departing for 35 off 27 balls.

In the second half of the chase, the Capitals completely lost their way as Tharindu Ratnayake bowled with great control and intelligence. The dot balls started to pile up, the asking rate kept creeping higher, and wickets fell at regular intervals under mounting pressure. The batting card tells the story, with just three batters managing double-digit scores. Sherfane Rutherford’s 25 off 19 balls fought hard but ultimately went in vain and his dismissal more or less sealed the game in favour of the Sunrisers.

The Capitals were eventually bowled out for 140 in 18 overs, as the Men in Orange sealed a comprehensive 48-run victory and secured the bonus point. Adam Milne was the standout with the ball, finishing with impressive figures of 4/25, while Tharindu Ratnayake also deserves massive credit for his miserly spell of 2/15.
