If you are in Durban, make sure you are well covered as it seems the rain gods have picked your city today. It has not been the ideal start for this venue but that does not stop any of the fun that is to come ahead in this ongoing South African carnival. We move to Gqeberha tomorrow and the sun will be out shining brightly. Sunrisers Eastern Cape will take on the Pretoria Capitals, and we will be back to cover all the fun. Do join us!

On this note, I, Manan Mehta would like to take your leave on behalf of colleagues Saptak Sanyal and Sachin Yadav. Adios amigos!
9:33 PM IST and 6:03 PM Local Time: MATCH ABANDONED! Both teams will share 2 points each. The final verdict is out, and the umpires have deemed the conditions unfit for any play to take place. The covers are firmly placed on the square and heavy puddles have formed all across the turf.

It was always on the cards, and the rain gods simply have not taken a break in Durban. The players and fans will be dejected as a fine contest was on the cards after how well both teams competed a couple of nights ago.

We just had 4 overs of play today after the MI Cape Town skipper, Rashid Khan, put the Durban Super Giants into bat. Both Devon Conway and Kane Williamson showed the same kind of form they displayed in Game 1. Conway hit some eye-catching sixes off the bowling of Trent Boult. Williamson's touch of class was showered all over the bowling of Karim Janat in that brief period.

Just as the spin of George Linde was going to be introduced into the attack, the heavens opened up, and the players rushed off. The Super Giants scored 37/0 in their 4 overs. The crowd and the players waited patiently but then as the conditions did not improve, the fans started to disperse.
9:30 PM IST and 6 PM Local Time: The umpires are in the ground, and the inspection is going on.
9:20 PM IST and 5:50 PM Local Time: It is still raining, but the umpires will have an inspection at 9:30 PM IST and 6 PM Local Time.
8:55 PM IST and 5:25 PM Local Time: Nothing new to update. It is pelting down in Durban and our waiting game elongates.
8:25 PM IST and 4:55 PM Local Time: We have started losing overs due to rain that has been falling for over an hour now. The 60-minute buffer has elapsed, and we are now set for a truncated game. It is still raining heavily, and the sky is very gloomy. The cut-off time for a five-over-per-side contest, the latest the game can restart, is 10:35 PM IST and 7:05 PM Local Time.
8:16 PM IST and 4:46 PM Local Time: There was a brief moment of positivity as the rain gods had eased their pourings. But brief it was. The rain has once again picked up intensity, and the spectators have started to leave the ground. Not great signs at all for the cricket on display today!
7:50 PM IST and 4:20 PM Local Time: Oops! Not the best news from Kingsmead! The rain has picked up intensity, and the square is firmly placed under covers. The crowd can be seen taking shelter in the stands and the grassy banks have emptied up.
Some Interesting Piece of Trivia:

We have three sets of brothers playing in the ongoing SA20 and all have been in action over the last couple of days.

Marco Jansen- Sunrisers Eastern Cape
Duan Jansen- Joburg Super Kings

Corbin Bosch- MI Cape Town
Eathan Bosch- Durban Super Giants

Jordan Hermann- Sunrisers Eastern Cape
Rubin Hermann- Paarl Royals
7:20 PM IST and 3:50 PM Local Time: Rain Stops Play! Off we go. The heavens have opened up, and the players are rushing off the field. Not the prettiest sight but none have the power to control nature. It says 75% rain in Durban for the evening and well, all we can hope as cricket fans is for some cricket. Even a shortened game will do. Though for now, let's just Wait and Watch!
