49 All Out! The Royal Challengers Bengaluru now have company! Paarl Royals will quite not believe what their batting unit has just done out in the middle. David Miller was shell shocked and the home fans? They certainly did not pay to watch this. Cricket though is the greatest leveler and that is all what the Royals will be hoping for. They will be wishing that the bad day of their tournament is out of their way. They will be hoping that their future in this competition is nothing as per what we saw today.

The Sunrisers on the other hand have had a bumper opening and with that pace attack in the sheds, they will instill fear in every opposition. The SA20 action will be back tomorrow with the Durban Super Giants and the MI Cape Town playing their reverse fixture in Durban.

On that note, I, Manan Mehta would like to sign off on behalf of my colleagues Ajay Pal Singh and Zeeshan Naiyer. Adios!!!
Anrich Nortje (POTM): "Yeah, good to be back. Great to be back on the park, great to be a part of SA20. Rhythm-wise, I think it can be better. But yeah, all in all happy. (On disagreement with umpire over no-ball) Yeah, no comment (chuckles).

Yeah, it is a great combination. They are some of the best in their department. Great to be coming on top of that. To try and finish the powerplay, it always makes it easier if they get early wickets.

Definitely. A lot of bases are covered. We cover a lot of conditions, we have got a lot of different skills. All in all a very good unit, we are gelling well."
Player of the Match: Anrich Nortje
Tristan Stubbs (Sunrisers Eastern Cape Captain): "Yeah the boys were excellent. That was the perfect start. Yeah I think that what we asked from the boys and the boys gave it their all out there. Proud of them.

I'll tell you something, I do not want to face our bowling attack. That is quite special. The openers batted really well. They looked very mature out there. Took the right options and looked calm from the outside so yeah it was great of them to start us off like that.

Jordan Hermann was excellent. We were talking about someone finishing the innings well and he played that role really well today. If we win like this, I am happy not batting even."

David Miller (Paarl Royals Captain): "Yeah, it wasn't a great game from us. Not a good start, but there are still 9 games to come. Still long comp ahead. We let it slip in the back end. With the bat, we never got to a start. I think, we were outplayed in all departments.

Yeah, it has. We have played phenomenal cricket here. A lot of younger guys in the team, they will learn quickly. We are all in it together. I am actually looking forward to how we bounce back in a couple of days time.

Yeah, correct. Those guys are world class. We obviously don't have them. We have built a crowd based on our home team.

Yeah, it doesn't matter how you start but how you finish. We definitely hold onto that. Like I said, gutted about tonight. Not a great result from our side. Lot to look forward ahead of us, we will take confidence in it."
12:01 AM IST and 8:31 PM Local Time: Sunrisers Eastern Cape win by 137 runs! They earn a bonus point as well as their run-rate was well above 1.25 times the Royals' run rate today! This has been some hammering inflicted by the Sunrisers Eastern Cape towards the Paarl Royals. They have been clinical from the get-go and have rattled their opponents.

And what better than doing it at the home of the Royals. The home fans can't quite believe what they have just seen. Royals were extremely dominant out here last time around. Well, their start this year, could not have been any worse!

The Sunrisers opted to bat first after winning the toss. Their openers were up to the task. Both Quinton de Kock and Jonny Bairstow started off briskly. QDK was the aggressor and Bairstow nudged it around to give his partner the strike. They raced to 51 in just 5 overs.

However, as the ball got old it became difficult to score on this slowish wicket on offer today the runs dried up. The Royals bounced back to take a few quick wickets and have the Sunrisers at 89/3. QDK was the finest batter of the innings at that point and was dismissed for 42. However, that's when the most profitable partnership of the game blossomed.

Jordan Hermann and Matthew Breetzke brought calm to the storm as they rebuilt the innings and then absolutely went hammer and tonks at the back end. Breetzke was dismissed for 31 ending a 73 runs stand.  Hermann continued the onslaught and made sure that the Sunrisers reached an above par score on this slow and low wicket. He smashed 22 off the final over and ended with 62 not out of 28 balls to his name. He pushed his side's score to 186/4 which seemed to be a winning score.

It ended being more than just a winning score as the second innings was an absolute drubbing by the men in orange. The Royals' chase started on the worst note possible as they were reduced to 10/3 in the first 4 overs. Marco Jansen and Adam Milne were breathing fire with the new ball. There was some resurgence from Asa Tribe and Kyle Verreynne who took the score to 30/3 before Anrich Nortje entered the scene.

The South African quick was making a comeback to competitive cricket and oh my word that was a comeback for the ages. He was delivering bullets and was banging the ball into the pitch hard as everything was zipping past the helmet. The Royals just could not handle that as they skied the short balls and got knocked on the fuller ones to hand Nortje figures of 4-13. The spinners took the remaining wickets as from 30/3 the Royals got bundled out for 49.

The lowest ever score in SA 20 history. Now where did it all go wrong? In the chase? In the first innings? Or at the Auction table? Remember? They were forced to buy players not of their choice as they couldn't complete the minimum required players on time. The Royals will hope to bounce back strongly and prove the critics wrong. As for the Sunrisers, they are rising and shining high in the sky!
