That is the end of our live coverage from this game! A rain-hit run chase, and Sydney Thunder finally managed a win in front of their home crowd! They spoil Melbourne Renegades' party as the visitors get eliminated from the season.

Tomorrow, we have Melbourne Stars taking on Adelaide Strikers at MCG.

For now, this is me, AkshayaKrishna Polya, signing off on behalf of my co-commentators Manan Mehta and Ajay Pal Singh, scorer Ashok Dayma and statistician Aman. We will meet again. Until then, it's cheers!
Chris Green (POTM): "(Thoughts on the sixes) First one good, second one lucky and third good again. Ah look, Nic told me that he is bowling into the wicket so set up accordingly and react to the length. Good it came off. Long overdue for me personally but great it brought us a win today.

(Conditions post the rain break) With the rain, the ball started coming on to the bat slightly better. Obviously Gurinder bowled really well. However, I felt that if you hit the ball in the middle of the bat you would get rewarded. The wicket here has improved over the last few seasons. A lot of reward is there for hitting the ball off the middle of the bat and the outfield is lightning fast. So yeah, I enjoyed myself.

(Thoughts on the JFM catch) Obviously, we were not happy with that Surge over. That catch, I don't know how he called that 'Out' from 100 meters away. Though eventually it worked out well for us. Nic got a couple of sixes away. Very happy to stay with the rate, get some much-needed boundaries and make a very supportive crowd happy.

(Few words on the home crowd) Oh, these guys are superb. They turn day in day out every season. Through thick and thin. It is fantastic. The support means so much to us. Last year we had a great season, this year we haven't had that. Still, they continue to come out and support us. Yeah, it feels very special. Apologies for a 'too little, too late' from us.

(Thoughts on spoiling the party for the Gades) We are on a roll now. Hopefully we can continue. We have the Sixers lined up next at the SCG. We knocked them out last year in the playoffs. It will be a really good challenge. But yeah, happy to knock out another team tonight."

5:10 PM IST and 10:40 PM Local Time: Sydney Thunder finally get a win! And this defeat eliminates Melbourne Renegades from the BBL 15, according to on-air broadcasters. But, mathematically, they are still alive! You can call that as all but out of the season! Now, only 6 teams are in the race to finish in the top 4? After 5 straight defeats, the Thunder claim a four-wicket victory and do it in front of their home crowd, spoiling the Gades' party!

Earlier in the game, Sydney Thunder won the bat flip and opted to field first. Josh Brown (35 off 25) got the Gades off to a flying start, adding 65 for the first wicket along with Tim Seifert (29 off 25). Wes Agar broke this partnership in the 7th over by knocking over Brown, before Jaker Fraser-McGurk came in and raced away to a quickfire 19 off 9 balls.

Agar got rid of the Rooster at the stroke of drinks. David Willey struck twice in the 11th over, removing Seifert and Caleb Jewell. Hassan Khan and Mohammad Rizwan tried to rebuild, with the former going all guns blazing and top scoring with his 46 off 31 balls, including 4 quality maximums, while the wicketkeeper batter struggled again for his 26 off 23 balls before being retired out post the 18th over. However, Will Sutherland couldn't add much to the tally as he was run out. Hassan fell in the last over, but he did his job, helping the Renegades to 170/8 in 20 overs.

For the Thunder, Wes Agar, David Willey and Ryan Hadley picked up 2 wickets each.

San Konstas hit a couple of ramp shots amidst Matthew Gilkes' throwing his wicket in the second over. Cameon Bancroft tried to milk runs in his pace, while Sam Billings was finding boundaries. There wasn't a real momentum in the run chase, with Gurinder Sandhu and Adam Zampa (2/21) bowling some tight lines and lengths.

When the Thunder were at 80/3 in 11 overs, there was a slight delay with the rain coming down. Once the game resumed, the hosts needed 60 off the last five overs as they were set a revised 140-run target on DLS in 16 overs.

Sandhu (4/42)  picked up 2 wickets, including Billings (33 off 27) and Sams (0) in successive deliveries post the resumption, before Nic Maddinson (30* off 17) struck two sixes in the same over. The game was drifting towards the Gades, but Chris Green (34* off 13) had other ideas. He struck three sixes in a row in Sandhu's final over, before the duo scored 15 in the penultimate over. Hassan Khan had 5 to defend in the final over, but Maddinson took only 2 balls to finish the game in the Thunder's favour!

1 Done and Dusted! Sydney Thunder get the job done! They play party poopers for the Melbourne Renegades and all but eliminate them from the tournament! Full ball fired on the pads, 96.5 kph, Maddinson flicks it to the deep square fielder for a single. Sydney Thunder win by 4 wickets (DLS).
The scores are level! Maddinson with a match-sealing hit! The Thunder need only 1 off 5 balls.
15.1 H Khan to N Maddinson
4 FOURRRR!!! Maddinson does not want to waste any time! Round the wicket, full ball on the pads, Maddinson sweeps it over the fine leg fielder for a boundary. Scores level! Just 1 run needed now!
15 runs coming off the penultimate over of this 16-over chase! Sutherland finishes with 0/24. The Thunder need only 5 off the last 6 balls. Hassan Khan to bowl the last over, because only 1 bowler can bowl a maximum of 4 overs and Sandhu has bowled it.
