That brings an end to yet another high-scoring contest in the BBL. The Adelaide Strikers went neck to neck with the Perth Scorchers for a large part of the chase, but the pressure told in the second half as they crumbled at a crucial stage. In the end, it was the Scorchers who held their nerve to seal a 32-run victory, a result that lifts them up to second spot on the points table.

They showed plenty of intent for most parts but lost their way under pressure in the closing overs. It’s a comprehensive performance from the Perth Scorchers as they close out a convincing 32-run victory.
Earlier in the day, the Adelaide Strikers won the bat flip and chose to chase on what was a belter of a surface at the Adelaide Oval. Mitchell Marsh and Finn Allen set the tone right from ball one, going hammer and tongs and putting the bowlers under immediate pressure. The openers got the Perth Scorchers off to an absolute flyer, finding the fence at will and controlling the Powerplay. At the end of the 4-over Powerplay, the Scorchers had raced away to 69/0, which went down as the second-highest 4-over Powerplay score in BBL history.
Lloyd Pope finally provided the breakthrough by breaking the dangerous opening stand, as Finn Allen perished for a rapid 38 off just 18 balls. However, the ‘Bison’, Mitchell Marsh was simply unstoppable tonight, dominating the bowling attack and setting the tone for a massive total. He top-scored for the Scorchers with a brutal knock, smashing 6 fours and 7 sixes, but fell agonizingly short of a well-deserved hundred, dismissed for 88 by Boyce.
Strong and timely contributions followed down the order, with Josh Inglis hammering 42 off 23 balls, Aaron Hardie adding a crucial unbeaten 34 off 22, and skipper Ashton Turner finishing in style with 20* off just 8 deliveries.
