That is the end of a nail-biting thriller from the Perth Stadium. The 19-year-old Oliver Peake held his nerves to clinch a tight win for Melbourne Renegades. Despite the defeat, the Scorchers are second on the points table, with 8 points from 7 matches, having won 4 and lost 3. On the other hand, the Gades are 6th, with 6 points from 6 matches, having won and lost 3 each.

Tomorrow, we have Melbourne Stars facing Sydney Sixers at MCG.

For now, this is me, AkshayaKrishna Polya, signing off on behalf of my co-commentator, Akshay Bhide, & scorer Ashok Dayma. We will meet again. Until then, it is cheers!
Oliver Peake (POTM): "I was lucky I had Samuel Elliot out there to sort of help me through. I was struggling to hit him the whole time, really. The pitch was a bit two-paced, and I guess the only shots I could really get off the square were ramps, so I decided to go to that for the last one, and luckily it paid off. I’m not sure about that.

I sort of sold it last week, a couple of days ago, when Will Sutherland got the win for us. I probably should have been there at the finish. Learnt from that game. Took it deeper this time. I was lucky as well. I had a bit of luck, a few balls landing in the gap, and that catch turned over; you always need some luck. I’m starting to figure it out, and yeah, I’m lucky I probably got that tonight.

There’s not much for me to make of it, I guess. It’s probably up to the adjudicators. It looked like he probably put it on the ground when he was getting up or something, and I guess strictly speaking, you can’t do that.

And we saw Mitchell Starc do that in the Ashes a few years ago, so the rule’s there, it’s rare for it to come up. If that was a Sheffield Shield game or something, then there’s no conversation on that, just lots of TVs, cameras around to pick it up here in BBL."
Player of the Match: Oliver Peake
5 PM IST and 7:30 PM Local Time: OMG! This is the best possible or suitable abbreviation for what just happened at the Optus Stadium! Oliver Peake, the 19-year-old sensation from Victoria, is here to stay for a long, long time! Australian cricketing future is nothing but secured! What a game, what a finish!

On a tricky surface, under immense pressure and amidst the chaos from the Perth crowd, this little boy from Geelong named Oliver Peake nailed the performance for ages! Needing 10 off the last over, needing 4 off the last ball, Peake just delivered one of the best finishes in the BBL.

Earlier in the game, Melbourne Renegades won the bat flip and opted to bowl first. Perth Scorchers were bundled out for 127 in 19.2 overs. Gurinder Sandhu was the star of the show as the Gades' seamer picked up 4/28. Hassan Khan was brilliant and ended with 2/26. A wicket each for Jason Behrendorff and Will Sutherland to cap off a superb performance with the ball.

The Scorchers lost returning Finn Allen cheaply. They then lost the next big thing in Australian cricket, Cooper Connolly, early. Mitchell Marsh got a start and scored 27 off 25 balls, but failed to go big again. Aaron Hardie held an end up and top-scored with his 40-ball 44, but got very little support from the rest of the batting unit as they lost wickets like ninepins and lost their way completely.

Josh Brown set the run chase on fire, scoring 18 runs off the second over delivered by Jhye Richardson. He raced to 22 off 14 balls after being involved in another maiden first over. Joel Paris had his man inside the powerplay, but couldn't continue after his 2-1-7-1 due to a groin injury, which hurt the hosts badly towards the end.

Tim Seifert and Mohammad Rizwan struggled during their stay in the middle, but got off to a start. Jake Fraser-McGurk failed again. Hassan Khan couldn't contribute with the bat as the Scorchers tried to make a match out of it by picking up wickets at regular intervals.

Peake batted smartly with the required run rate being within control. Will Sutherland supported him with an 18-ball 15. Things could have been messy for the visitors had Ashton Turner's stunning catch at mid on not been deemed illegal, with him having no control over the proceedings, giving a big life for Peake that shook the stadium in controversy. As per the rules, it was a perfect decision from the TV umpire, Stephen Dionysius.

The two batters took the game deep, but the Renegades lost their skipper in the penultimate over as Sutherland tried to go for back-to-back big shots. But Peake remained calm under pressure and remained unbeaten with his match-winning contribution of 42 from 30 balls.

Paris, David Payne, Jhye Richardson (post his first over), Cooper Connolly and Ashton Turner all delivered the goods with the ball, bowling tight spells and picking up a wicket each. Beardman and Hardie did their bit, but couldn't get the Scorchers over the line in this low-scoring thriller.

6 SIX RUNS!!! WOULD YOU BELIEVE IT? OLIVER PEAKE, THE CLUTCH!!! FUTURE OF AUSTRALIAN CRICKET IS BRIGHT! THIS IS THE SHOT OF THE SUMMER IF NOT THE DECADE! Those nerves are definitely made of ice! 135.6 kph. Good length outside off. Peake shuffles on the off side, gets inside the line and uses the pace of the bowler before nailing the pick-up shot or scoop. You call it whatever you want. It doesn't matter anymore. It flies over short fine leg and clears the fence for a maximum. A 77 m long six to finish things off in style. Elliot runs across and gives his batting partner and the man of the moment a big hug! Perth Scorchers are in shock. The Optus crowd has to pinch themself to check whether it was real or a dream. Oliver Peake, the 19-year-old Victorian sensation, delivers a clutch performance again! The Renegades beat the Scorchers for the 3rd time in a row, with this being a nail-biting four-wicket triumph amidst some backslash from the wild home ground!

0 DOT BALL!!! CRUCIAL DELIVERY! MELBOURNE RENEGADES NEED 4 OFF THE LAST BALL!!! UNREAL GAME WE ARE WITNESSING HERE AT THE OPTUS STADIUM!!! Short, angled back into Peake, who is backing away down leg. He is cramped for room and hops back to get on top of it, but fails to do so. Miscues the flat-batted slap off the toe end back to the bowler.
19.4 A Hardie to O Peake
2 TWO MORE!!! Short and outside off from around the wicket. 134.6 kph. Peake rocks back and mistimes the pull again. He hits it uppishly to the left of long on and comes back for the second run. The Gades need 4 off 2 balls now.
19.3 A Hardie to S Elliott
1 ANOTHER RUN! The Renegades need 6 off 3 now!!! Over the wicket. Back of a length outside off. Elliott backs away and mistimes his slap to mid off for a single.
