The first round of Melbourne Derby goes to Renegades. It was a close encounter but Will Sutherland and his men always seem to have the game under their control. The action doesn't stop in BBL on this Super Sunday. Adelaide Strikers are up against Perth Scorchers. Switch tabs to follow that game.

For now, this is Ajay Pal Singh signing off on behalf of my colleagues Pritam Dey, Ashok Dayma and AkshayaKrishna Polya. Good bye!!!
Josh Brown (POTM): "It was nice to get few off the middle early. We managed to play on our terms which was nice.

Yeah, absolutely. When I wasn't scoring runs initially, I knew I have been doing things right off the field. I knew I wasn't far away. Glad to did it in front of this crowd. I was feeling like I should have still been out there, I was kind of panicking but happy to get the job done.

Yeah, he's unbelievable. He just keeps getting better each year. Which is amazing to watch. The crowd was loud, you can't hear a thing in the middle. Over 66 thousand here tonight, biggest crowd I have played in front of.

We got pretty close last year, but Maxi took it away from us. First win for me in the derby."
Player of the Match: Josh Brown
3:48 PM IST, 9:18 PM Local Time: Melbourne is RED as the Renegades win a cliffhanger at the 'G to take two points as well as the Melbourne Mace trophy. Josh Brown's 84 set it up for the Renegades in the chase of 174 and contributions from Oliver Peake and Will Sutherland took them home.

Earlier in the game, Gurinder Sandhu took four wickets and young Callum Stow chipped in with two. One apiece for Will Sutherland and Hassan Khan helped the Renegades to restrict the Stars to 173/9 in 20 overs.

Sam Harper made 20 off 10. Campbell Kellaway held the innings together as wickets kept falling from one end. He made 33 off 27. Hilton Cartwright chipped in with a cameo of 28. Tom Curran stole the show with a knock of 38 off 18.

In reply, Josh Brown and Tim Seifert got the Renegades off to a decent start. They added 24 runs in 2.3 overs before Seifert perished. Mohammad Rizwan then walked out at number three and stitched a 103-run partnership for the second wicket with Brown.

Brown fell 16 shy off a well-deserved ton. Rizwan struggled to time the ball and lost his wicket for 41 off 38. Will Sutherland's unbeaten cameo off 19 off 7 took the Gades home in the final over.
