That is it from Geelong. Hobart Hurricanes thrash the Renegades in a one-sided affair to climb to the top of the points table with 4 points from 3 games. On the other hand, the Gades slip to the penultimate position with 2 points from as many games after starting the day in this eight-team competition from the second place.

Tomorrow, we have a cracking fixture coming up from the capital city of Australia as Sydney Thunder face Brisbane Heat in Canberra.

For now, this is me, AkshayaKrishna Polya, signing off on behalf of my co-commentator, Ajay Pal Singh, helping buddies Manan Mehta, Deepak Prakash and scorer Ashok Dayma. We will meet again. Until then, it is cheers!
Chris Jordan (POTM): "Yeah, slight change. We played an extra batter today, so someone had to step up in the powerplay and try to fill a role, my name got called today.

Yeah, great bounceback. A bit disappointed by the way we got beat in the last game. It was important that we put that right tonight.

I am just trying to keep my body as good as possible. To be able to do long on to long on and bowl my four overs and try to smack a few out of the park if I get a chance.

I have not seen summer here, hopefully, it comes in the next few days."

4:48 PM IST, 10:18 PM Local Time: Hobart Hurricanes hand Melbourne Renegades a proper mauling in Geelong, their last home game in 2025!!! A seven-wicket thumping victory for the defending champions as they bounce back from a hammering received at MCG against the Stars earlier this week! Chris Jordan set it up with a scorching spell before Nikhil Chaudhary and Ben McDermott made a mockery of the run chase!!!!

Earlier in the evening, the Hurricanes won the bat flip and decided to bowl first under gloomy conditions. Jordan started with a cracking maiden over to keep Josh Brown on the back foot, and the opener was taken care of in the next over for an eight-ball duck.

Tim Seifert and Mohammad Rizwan tried to rebuild and got into their respective 30s, with the former being the aggressor. It was Jordan again who gave the 'Canes a breakthrough by dismissing the Kiwi, who was the top scorer for the hosts with a 21-ball 34.

Since then, the visitors kept picking up wickets at regular intervals and never allowed the Gades to break free. The Will Sutherland-led side eventually managed to muster only 145/9 in 20 overs after Hassan Khan found a couple of boundaries amidst the decimation.

Jordan was brilliant all night and finished with his career-best BBL spell, taking 4/19. He conceded only one boundary, and Adam Zampa hit that on the last ball of the innings. Nathan Ellis was expensive to start with, but ended with 2/43. Riley Meredith and the two young overseas leggies - Rehan Ahmed and Rishad Hossain - were impressive and also picked up a wicket each.

It was a disastrous start to the run chase for the Hurricanes as the dangerous Mitchell Owen was found wanting on the very first ball, with Jason Behrendorff doing what he does best with the new ball.

However, Chaudhary slammed the next three balls to the fence to begin the destruction. He hit 79 off just 38 balls, slamming 7 fours and 4 sixes in his onslaught. McDermott was also aggressive, but looked like playing a second fiddle while Chaudhary was going berserk. The two right-handers added 93 in no time to take the game away from the hosts, who were very poor with the ball and on the field.

Amidst all these, the Hurricanes also lost the debutant Tim Ward cheaply, but that didn't do any harm to the defending champions as the Chaudhary-McDermott duo made boundary hitting look easy. Chaudhary holed out with a few runs left to win, while McDermott hit the winning six and remained unbeaten on 49 off 33 balls along with Tim David, who also hit a maximum in his 5-ball 8*.

It took just 13.5 overs for the 'Canes to hunt down the target, as only Behrendorff somewhat tried to put the tourists under pressure.

6 SIX RUNS!!!! Ben McDermott ends the game with a bang!!! Short of a length, slower one, outside off. Off-cutter, bowled into the surface. McDermott picks it early and pulls it away over deep square leg for half-a-dozen runs. Dropped in the stands by one of the spectators. Hurricanes win comfortably by 7 wickets.
13.4 W Sutherland to T David
1 Full and outside the off stump. Clears his front leg and drills it to wide long on for a single.
Sandhu and Sutherland are unhappy with the square leg umpire's decision of wide. Replays confirm that it was above David's head.
13.4 W Sutherland to T David
WD WIDE!!! Short ball again, but too short and outside off this time. David sways away from the line. Wide called.
