That brings an end to our coverage of this game. Keep joining us for more cricketing action around the globe. For now, this is Akshay Bhide, signing off, on behalf of scorer Raju Khariya. Until next time, cheers and good bye.
DID YOU KNOW: Colin Munro has completed the triple of 10000 runs, 1000 fours, and 500 sixes in T20 cricket, becoming only the fifth player to achieve this feat. The others are Alex Hales, Jos Buttler, Chris Gayle, and Rohit Sharma.
Tim Seifert (Player of the Match): "The wicket had little bit in it. A bit up and down. But we did well to bat and post that total on the board.

(On his innings) It was a big one. I was out last six weeks with a broken finger. It gives you confidence going into the rest of the tournament. It is right up there. It wasn’t full flowing. But 100 in T20 cricket is great and happy to get the win.

I think they took it till the end. Hassan’s run out was crucial for us. The boys did well with both bat and ball and in the field.

No concerns. It was just a slight niggle and they wanted me to take it easy.

(On Peake's knock) Unbelievable knock. He isn’t with us for the full tournament but he’s a great prospect for Australia and he has a bright future."

5:07 PM IST, 10:37 PM Local Time: There you go. Melbourne Renegades get off to a winning start. They beat Brisbane Heat by 14 runs at Simonds Stadium to grab two points in front of their home crowd. It was a high-scoring encounter and the Renegades hold their nerves to emerge victorious to start their campaign with a win.

Chasing a mammoth 213, Heat lost Jack Wildermuth (0) and skipper Nathan McSweeney (9) inside the powerplay. Colin Munro looked good at the top of the order and he along with Matt Renshaw led the recovery work for the visitors. Renshaw scored 18 before falling in the seventh over.

Munro scored a wonderful fifty. However, the Renegades controlled things by dismissing Max Bryant (14), Munro (55) and Xavier Bartlett (1) in a quick succession. Hugh Weibgen was joined by Jimmy Peirson and both kept Heat in the hunt. Peirson hit some lusty blows and got to his fifty in just 21 balls.

Sutherland bounced back by dismissing Peirson on 22-ball 50 in the penultimate over of the innings. Weibgen tried hard and remained unbeaten on 38 off 20 but it wasn't enough as Heat finished their innings on 198/8, falling short by 14 runs. Sutherland lead the Renegades from the front and registered figures of 3/33. Jason Behrendorff (2/34) and Gurinder Sandhu (2/35) grabbed two scalps each as they defended the total successfully.

Earlier, the fans in the Simonds Stadium were greeted with a Tim Seifert show. The New Zealander opened the batting for the Renegades and looked solid from the word go. He lacked support though as Josh Brown (15), Mohammad Rizwan (4) and Jake Fraser-McGurk (14) fell cheaply. Seifert continued going strong and raced past his fifty.

Seifert received an excellent support from Ollie Peake as both kept Heat at bay with a brilliant 121-run stand for the fourth wicket. Seifert brought up his hundred in just 53 balls, becoming only the second Renegades player to get to triple figures in BBL. Peake at the other end raced past his fifty in just 25 balls.

Seifert and Peake scored 102 and 57 respectively before falling in the penultimate over. Their partnership powered the Renegades to 212/5, their second-highest total in BBL. Jack Wildermuth (3/34) picked up three wickets for Heat. The talking point though was Shaheen Afridi being taken out of the attack after bowling two beamers. He went wicketless and conceded 43 runs in 2.4 overs.
