A comprehensive win in the second ODI at Seddon Park for New Zealand. They have taken an unassailable 2-0 lead, with the 3rd and final ODI taking place on Saturday in Wellington. Harry Brook was the only limelight in the series opener for the tourists, while Jofra Archer is the only positive for England tonight. Jamie Overton is another one who has shown some batting ability. England have plenty to ponder ahead of the last game to avoid a series sweep.

For now, this is me, AkshayaKrishna Polya, signing off on behalf of my co-commentators, Akshay Bhide and Pritam Dey, scorer Dushyant Madhukar Kumar and statistician Aman. Plenty of action awaits us on our network for the remainder of the day. We will meet again. Until then, it is cheers!!!
Mitchell Santner (New Zealand Captain): "It was a great game for us. Started very well with the ball. There wasn't much in it but we adapted very well and to restrict them to 170 was a great effort.

First thing, 170, we will definitely take that. Kane and Rachin did extremely well to stand there. They may haven't been at their most fluent but did well to get through the powerplay.

(On Daryl Mitchell) You really don't want him to fire up. But he's outstanding for us. To back up with another fifty was great.

I was sitting there and thinking that if I stayed there and defended, I would nick off. I certainly didn't want to do that. So, I decided to attack. But, obviously, happy to go 2-0 up in the series and it was a great crowd.

(On Blair Tickner) It's a credit to him. He's a world-class bowler. We create an environment where guys come in and do their thing. He was outstanding, especially that first spell while bowling with that wind. It was a good job in the powerplay and also good to follow it up."
Harry Brook (England Captain): "Disappointing, obviously, to say the least. Hopefully, we come back well on Sunday (actually Saturday) in the third ODI against these boys, who are world number 2 in the format.

The conditions are very similar to England. It will do something early on with the new ball. Then it is a good wicket to bat on. We need to see off the first 15-20 balls.

Disappointing again, to say the least. We want to entertain everyone. We want to entertain everyone watching us. See, today it didn't come off. But not so long ago, we got 400-plus against South Africa. Hope to do well in the next game. Is it on Saturday? Not sure.

Ah... Jofra Archer is awesome. Everyone loves watching Jofra bowl. He bowls at 90-95 miles per hour and hoops it around the corner for fun. He's a valuable asset, and his figures were awesome. It was awesome to have him back.

(On the message to the team for the next game) Just dig deep. Same message to the crew. We will be positive. Hopefully, we will entertain everyone in Wellington. Hopefully, it will come off."
Blair Tickner (Player of the Match): "Yeah, it felt really good. Didn't expect that. I thought I was going to run in with the drinks.

Last night, I was having the barbeque with Josh Clarkson. Got the message last night. Thought I was going to run in with the drinks.

Taking early wickets is how it goes. Good bowling performance from everyone and yeah.

I had a long winter in England. Couple of months off. Just trying to enjoy the game and see how it goes.

It was pretty special. Shoutout to them for driving out for me. It was pretty special."

NUMBERS GAME: The last time New Zealand won an ODI series against England was in 2013, while the last time they beat the English side in an ODI series at home was back in 2008.
STAT ATTACK: Since the 2023 ODI World Cup, England have won only 8 of their 25 ODIs, losing the remaining 17.
Back-to-back ODI series defeats for Harry Brook and his troop!!!
12:26 PM IST, 7:56 PM Local Time: New Zealand take an unassailable lead in the three-match ODI series. They beat England by five wickets here at Seddon Park to wrap up the series with a game to go. The Englishmen were outplayed in both games of this series and have lost yet another ODI series away from home.

The Kiwis lost Will Young on a duck in the very first over while chasing 176. Rachin Ravindra and Kane Williamson fought hard as the ball was zipping around. Jofra Archer and Brydon Carse were excellent with the new ball as the scoreboard read 32/1 at the end of the first powerplay. After all the hard work, Williamson dragged one back onto the stumps to fall on 21.

In walked Daryl Mitchell and he along with Rachin started building a partnership. Both pounced on anything loose and kept ticking the scoreboard. Rachin brought up a well-composed fifty before holing out in the deep on 54. Tom Latham (2) and Michael Bracewell (5) were sent packing cheaply as England refused to give up.

Skipper Mitchell Santner at seven came out all guns blazing. Mitchell at the other end brought up his fifty in 56 balls and both made sure that there were no more hiccups in the chase. Mitchell (56*) and Santner (34*) stitched an unbeaten 59-run stand which took New Zealand home in the 34th over. Jofra Archer was exceptional with the ball for England, registering figures of 3/23 from his 10 overs but it wasn't enough as they failed to defend the total and suffered a series loss.

Earlier, England were asked to bat first and it was another dismal performance from their batters. New Zealand bowled beautifully right from the start and picked up regular wickets. England were reduced to 105/6 in the 24th over, with skipper Harry Brook top-scoring with 34 among the top seven batters.

Jamie Overton at eight played aggressively and hit some lusty blows, scoring 28-ball 42. However, the hosts were quick to wrap up the tail as the English side got bundled out on 175 in just 36 overs. Blair Tickner on his return registered his career-best ODI figures of 4/34. The other bowlers picked up at least a wicket, with Nathan Smith (2/27) finishing with two to his name.

Rachin and Mitchell hit fifties in the run-chase and Santner played a fine cameo as New Zealand got home with five wickets in hand. With this, they seal the series with a game to go.

Stay tuned for the post-match presentation.
