Milestone
England have now registered 4 one-sided wins in their last 7 T20Is. All of the remaining three fixtures have been washouts. Perhaps, that means that if you are a cricket fan who resides in Auckland or nearby, you would be better off hanging some TerΕ« TerΕ« Bozu (Japanese anti-rain dolls) at your porch or balcony. After all, that is where the 3rd and the final T20I of this series will be played.

Do join us for that on Thursday, October 23rd. Our coverage will begin at 10:45 AM IST, 6:15 PM local time. For now, this is Darpan Tikiya signing off on the behalf of Akshay Bhide, Vishnu Verma, Aman and Chandan Kumar Singh. Kia Ora!
For the first time in T20I history for New Zealand, all 10 wickets in an innings fell through catches, making it only the 13th instance overall in T20Is where every dismissal was a catch.
Harry Brook (England Captain): "It's exactly what we have been talking about. That's what we have been doing since my captaincy debut. Taking early wickets.

They are extremely experienced. Dawson to bowl those four straight overs with left-handed batters at the crease, he bowled phenomenally and it gives me a lot of confidence moving forward.

We have spoken about it. There are a lot of balls that got plinked in the outfield. That's another positive move towards taking wickets."
Mitchell Santner (New Zealand captain): "The pitch was a bit flatter than the other night. England were smarter. They hit boundaries to the smaller side and picked a lot of twos on the big side. You look at the quality of the batters. We threw different options, but they kept on going. The idea is to bowl dots and hence, pick wickets. But they kept picking those twos.

To chase that kind of target down, you need a lot of things to go well. They were smart with the ball too. They made us hit into the wind. (Plans for the next game) Probably get Brook and Salt out (chuckles)."
Harry Brook (Player of the Match): "It felt good. Always nice to contribute. Also, to play with Salt was good because he has been very consistent for us.

Just tried to stay calm and composed and put them under pressure.

The other night, there was some little grass which made life difficult for our batters. There was no grass today and it was good for batting.

It was good to get some off the middle of the bat. One off Mitch actually which I hit off the backfoot, I loved it."

3:01 PM IST, 10:31 PM local time: England have thumped the hosts and registered an impressive 65-run victory here in the 2nd T20I. New Zealand continue to search for their first win in this home season. Five games in now, without a W to their name.

The eternal optimists will tell you that they were in this match, until Tim Seifert got out. The overzealous ones will say that they had a chance when Neesham and Santner stitched together an effervescent 57-run partnership for the 7th wicket. But the realists might state that it was Harry Brook's blitzkrieg that had nearly sealed it for England.

Philip Salt helped paved the platform with a splendid 56-ball-85 β€” his usual exuberance mixed with the some cautiousness in the right proportion. Then, the skipper took over and put on a show so scintillating, that it will linger on for a long time in the memories of the fans that turned up at the Hagley Oval today. His shot selection was drool-worthy β€”  even jaw-dropping at times β€” and ball-striking as sweet as it can get. 6 delectable fours and 5 stunning sixes forged the highlights.

With target of 237 in front of them, New Zealand needed to forge their highest successful chase ever to win the game. Alas, they were pegged early with Ravindra and Robinson getting dismissed in the second over itself. While Seifert continued to manufacture boundaries, Chapman could not quite hit the top gear. Once the twirlers came on, the Kiwis got caught in a web and eventually got bundled out for 171.

Every England bar Sam Curran picked a couple of wickets at least. Adil Rashid stood out with his fantastic changes of pace and other variations and finished with 4/32
