Milestone
It was a frustrating evening for everyone at the Bay Oval as rain played spoilsport. After a long delay, play finally got underway with a 9-over contest, and Michael Bracewell chose to have Australia bat first. Jacob Duffy struck early, removing Travis Head for just 5 in the second over. However, only 13 balls were bowled before the rain returned, effectively ending the match.

With no further play possible, Australia retain the Chappell-Hadlee Trophy, and all eyes now turn to the 3rd and final T20I scheduled for tomorrow. For now, this is Pritam Dey signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Akshay Bhide who, along with scorer/analyst Raju Khariya brought all the actions of this clash. Stay tuned for more cricketing action from around the world. BYE BYE👋
Michael Bracewell (New Zealand Captain): "Well, we wanted to play a game tonight but unfortunately we couldn't. We wanted to start the series well but we didn't play well in the 1st T20I.

You have got a squad of 14 guys for a reason and you want to give everyone a chance. We thought that making those changes tonight would be the right idea.

Every time we step onto the field, we are really proud to represent the country. Obviously, we are really sad not to win the Chappell-Hadlee Trophy but every game is really important for us.

Yeah, the fans have been loyal to us. Hopefully, we get a game tomorrow so that the fans enjoy it."
Mitchell Marsh (Australia Captain): "Days like today are never pleasing. We waited for a long time to get some game for the crowd. The ground staff did a brilliant job.

Chappell-Hadlee holds a lot of history between both teams. We are really happy to retain the trophy but we have a lot to play tomorrow.

Well, I was on 1 off 5 balls at one stage in a 9-over game and never felt so much pressure in my whole career. I was about to retire myself (laughs)."

2:22 PM IST & 9:52 PM Local Time: The umpires are making their way down the stairs, umbrellas in hand. After a very short chat with the head of the ground staff, the umpires have turned around and are heading back to the dressing rooms.

The umpires are now having a chat with the captains and now the handshake confirms it — that’s the end of the contest! The match has been abandoned due to persistent rain, and with that, Australia retain the Chappell-Hadlee Trophy.
2:20 PM IST & 9:50 PM Local Time: Mitchell Marsh is seen having an extended conversation with Michael Bracewell while the rain continues to pour. We have just 11 minutes remaining for the cut-off time for a 5-over contest. With time running out, the unfortunate announcement could come at any moment.
2:11 PM IST & 9:41 PM Local Time: And there it is! The rain has returned, and it’s pouring down heavily now. The umpires have asked the players to leave the field. The ground staff are rushing onto the field with the covers. They have rolled out the massive sheets to cover the square. At this stage, any further play tonight looks highly unlikely.
It was a sharp throw at the bowler's end. The ball hits the microphone which is placed right behind the middle stump. The ball deflects towards the mid wicket region.
2.1 B Sears to M Short
1 Over the wicket, good length delivery on the stumps, Short pushes it in front of mid off and hurries down the other end. Bracewell hits the microphone that is placed behind the stumps. You don't see that very often.
